Thinking about buying a Uly. Do you have any tips on riding 2-up on one? Thanks. |

I have an '06. Suspension is set for my riding weight/style per the book, plus one weight range heavier on the front spring preload (to reduce brake dive until I need a fork service, when '07 springs will go in). Only change I make when the wife gets on is, up the rear preload with the handcrank. Compression, rebound...I leave it all alone. It does just fine with the added preload by itself. She likes it so much, the first time she rode on it..."we don't need the Road King anymore". |

My wife really likes riding on the Uly. She has to make sure I'm ready before she gets on and off or its-hey are you trying to tip me over. |

The majority of my riding is 2-up (80%). Invest in a good intercom system. I bought an AutoComm unit, it has made the rides much more enjoyable. It gives the passenger a better sense of security IMO. Similar to Ratbuell I have set my suspension up for a "spirited" ride for my weight. When we venture off paved roads I only need to increase the rear spring rate by 2 full turns. |

My wife was amazed at the comfort of the Uly. She so wanted me to buy a bike with a big old couch on the back (AKA goldwing, ultraglid or such)but I insisted on getting an Adventure bike and told her she was more than welcome to go for rides but it was going to be on the Uly. Now I can't get her off it! |

I love riding 2up on the Uly. There is plenty of room, so much so that if M2nc brakes hard, I'll slide into him if I don't hold the grab bars. I love our all day adventures with others while riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. We can cruise and still hit the twisties. |

Great comments and lots of help! Now, what's it like to handle with the ever smiling Misses on board and the luggage full? |

It has proven to be the best handling machine I have ridden with a passenger. We enjoy exploring "ghost towns" which are typically at the end of a fairly rough terrain 2 track dirt road. I wouldn't attempt many of them on any other machine. We travel with just the side bags - no tail trunk. We typically will have 20 - 25 pounds in each bag. I tip the scales at 195 pounds (can't tell you my wife's weight, not polite ) But, I'm 6'2 and she is 5'6

Thanks for the intercomm tip...I have been getting lots of hand jestures lately. With the saddlebags and tourpack loaded and a passenger I haven't noticed much difference in the handling. We used tour exclusively on the Electra-Glides but now I hardly ride anything but the Uly. |

with the saddlebags, and trunk installed, and loaded, my Uly likes to lift the front wheel at every stop. the weight is VERY biased towards the rear. I noticed a BIG difference in the handling when we went to and from homecoming last year. it also makes for some fun when passing the big rigs, with that light front end. try to get a tank bag and load as much as you can up front... |

I agree on it being easy to get the front wheel of the ground while riding two up. This took some adjustment for me. |

Yeah...but 2-up wheelies REALLY get the cagers' attention! |
