OK All, here is a thread just for crater lake talk. Dates are confirmed, Aug 22nd and 23rd. Lodging is confirmed, "crater lake ride;confirmed date, aug 22/23. cabin has been reserved for sat night $235/6 persons at union creek resort. we may fit a coupe extras. this will be a good time!" We'll just do the math when we get there and figure out the split. Lets do a role call, So far I think its: XB Sweede Slim Dave Borrowedbike Thepod Mrs. The Pod "possibles" from CR Daniel and Livnloud. We should take a hard look at routes. I'm willing to ride a LOT to avoid the slab, same way want to shave some hours of saddle time and take the slab a large portion of the way. If your going, please weigh in. Google maps a plus. Is this a ride there and Ride back? Or a ride there, Ride around, sleep, ride around, ride back thing? If your going please try and make Saturdays meeting, this will be a hot topic of discussion. |

I sent a route suggestion to Dave that eliminates almost all slabbing. Yes this will be a good discussion for Saturday and we can review routes and what everyone really prefers to ride. (Message edited by xbswede on July 30, 2009) |

Ok, Mrs. ThePod is not going. Looks like she doesn't want to be surrounded by stinky dudes all day long. If there are other women going she is willing to participate, otherwise it's a sausage part at crater lake |

The route to & around Steamboat (Hwy138) is detoured cause of the Glide fires. NF19 around Cougar Res. to Oakridge is good. |

Maybe it will rain and put them out. Yes, we need to have an alternate plan but let's hope the fires get put out. |

I want to do the ride but not sure if I want to go the long way. Anyone got plans for some thing a little shorter? IS every one sleeping in the same space or camping? Id like a little camping. |

Suggested Route: You will need to cut and paste the following link into a browser window, stupid graphics. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=8 70+E+Berkeley+St.,+Gladstone,+OR+97027+(Team+Latus+Harley-Davidson)&daddr=NFD+46+Rd+toR-22%2FN+Santiam+Hwy+to:NFD+19+Rd+to:NFD+5850+Rd+t o:NFD+100+Rd+to:NFD+38+Rd+to:Steamboat+Creek+Rd+to :Crater+Lake+Hwy%2FOR-62+to:NFD+38+Rd+to:Row+River +Rd+to:I-5+N+to:Panther+Creek+Rd+to:Territorial+Rd +to:S+Fork+Rd+to:Buell,+OR+to:SW+Baker+St%2FOR-99W +to:45.298558,-123.123093+to:SW+Hillsboro+Hwy%2FOR -219+to:Beaverton,+OR&geocode=FfN9tAIdE4-x-CE5-hcz sqf_kg%3BFfP7rQIdpCO8-A%3BFQDgqQIdaOW5-A%3BFXrzngI dyPW3-A%3BFe84mQId1iyy-A%3BFW-AmAIdEeOx-A%3BFTSQlQ IdsHSv-A%3BFVpolQIdljqv-A%3BFVu9jgIdT6qz-A%3BFfzpl gIdLG2x-A%3BFZjAmgIdcKOt-A%3BFV4cnAIdkleq-A%3BFeTL nQIdBmKk-A%3BFbzUowIdbKmm-A%3BFZSlpAIdrG6i-A%3B%3B FWqqsQId7ASo-A%3B%3BFcijtAId2Aqs-A%3B&hl=en&mra=dp e&mrcr=2&mrsp=17&sz=11&via=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,1 2,13,14,16,17,18&sll=45.258939,-122.921219&sspn=0. 389566,1.056747&ie=UTF8&ll=44.284537,-121.78894&sp n=3.169537,8.453979&z=8 Sounds Like Carley will be slabbing it down I5 rather than hit the extended twisties, those that want to ride that route are free to plan it. Route there is 338 Miles of twisties estimated at 10 hours by google. I suggest we are kickstands UP at 0800 SAturday AM. Thoughts? |

Pod the beginning I think should be either Redland or clackamas river rd/Springwater rd into Estacada. Much more pleasant then riding 224 into Estacada. |
