Well I remember when I first got on a Uly board and people were asking about the mileage count down/up that comes on with your fuel light. Questions like, how far can you go before you run out? What should you do it you do run out? At what mileage does your light come on? 1. Fuel light comes on at 156. 2. Went 34 miles when it died. 3. Shook bike left to right and hit starter and it launched to 20 mph and died. 4. Had to cross busy intersection without a stop light, shook bike left, right, forward and reverse. Got small opening and hit starter and launched across four lanes into a bicycle lane and died. Coasted for half a block. Steered back and forth sharply and hit starter and launched into a gas station. 5. 190 miles using 4.2 gallons. 6. 45 mpg city/highway combo. Now we know! |

1, 240 2, The only time I ever ran out was about 35 miles, and because I got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic, couldn't squeeze around. 3&4, sat for a minute, then it started right up again, rode quater mile to my dad's gas station. 5, Couldn't recall the milage from that tank. My latest fillup was 253 mi on 3.97 US gal. 6. 63.73 MPG US |

Of significant interest is the refilled-from-dry volume: 4.2 gallons. If the fuel island gauge is accurate and you know your average mileage on a particular tank you can calculate pretty closely how far til you're walking. I try to do those calcs in my head when I'm riding in unfamiliar territory. |

Froggy's post made me mad at him. And by extension at every Pre-08 Uly owner. I wish I could break 45 mpg! |

By 160 miles I am getting gas. Helps me keep my stress level lower. |

Wish I could get better than 32mpg. Tried buzzing the motor and that didn't help. I am not hard on it and even long trips I am having difficulty getting to 32+. Getting the latest reflash on Tuesday so hopefully that helps. Going on a 700+ mile trip with Goldwings mostly the end of the month and would love to be able to at least make it to 160mi/tank |

I don't get mad at Froggy's mileage, envious maybe. I can't figure out where he lives that he only goes downhill to get such good mileage though Cheers, Will |

... downhill with the engine off! |

Ive done 50mpg on a 09, in the middle of winter (winter gas = less mpg), tons more idling, and on a brand new engine. If I was actually trying, I am sure I could match the 06 just fine. Oh and downhill with the engine off doesn't work too well with our bikes, so I only do that on off ramps. |

Just for the record...I just came back from a two way trip of just over seven hundred k's each way, and pulled some tanks about fourty miles to the gallon, and some tanks fifty..not sure why..headwinds, hot, cold, at one point a hundred and sixty k's and hour, and still got fourty miles to the gallon..Brand new O8 just over six thousand k's no it, two months old. I do ride it like I stole it. Think it says to do that in one of the service manuals, as long as it is on warranty.. |

I'm running 75 - 80 MPH on this trip, and I'm averaging 43 MPG. |

Should have got the blue one. Then you could go over 80. |

I'm lucky if I pass 155 mi before the fuel light comes on! Running at hi way speeds here in Europe (130 kph) the bike stays right around 4K rpms and with the map I'm running if run over 4K fuel mileage will drop to around 125! |

I got my 2009 at the end of February, this year. During break-in, the mileage was kinda sad, but it's been coming up steadily. My overall average is now just over 43 mpg (counting the LPP stuff of the break-in period, and now hovering in the upper 40's). It's in the 50's once I get out of traffic (I use my bike to commute, too, and rush hours can be murder with all the stop and go stuff). I just got back from a 2 day trip up AZ 191 (Coronado Trail) from Morenci in the south to Springerville in the north, and my overall average for the trip was over 51 mpg, with a high of 56+ mpg on one fill-up. |

The mystery solved to Froggy's gas mileage: rode quarter mile to my dad's gas station. I think Dad's pump under charges you a gallon or 2.

I do only about 50% of my pumping there, and I would notice when stopping right after the gas light came on if it only took 2 gallons instead of 3.6 like it usually does. Not that I couldn't rig the pump |
