Picked up my new bike today! Put on my first 250 kms today, and loved every minute of it, except for the wind noise, but will be fixed as soon as my Madstad screen comes in... I think I'm gonna LOVE this bike! It's the best handling bike I've had since I sold my Honda Hawk 650GT about 15 years ago! Here's a shot of my new bike, facing off with my old...

LOL That's funny that you mentioned that, because I got the red and really wanted the blue. So it cost the dealer another 300 bucks to sell me the red one. Cause that's what the parts are going to cost me to switch it out, LOL. Fun stuff though, and all my old riding gear is red anyways! Congrats Trev, I just got mine yesterday, and they are a blast. Like you I'm going after the windscreen first also. |

Nice thing about the cheap plastics, you can get a few sets and change them to match your hairdo |

The Hero Blue translucent ones are the fastest because the translucent plastics weigh less. But my old Carbon Fiber Uly was even faster, because my wallet weighed less. |

Don't suppose your dealer had another one of those around? Very hard to find an '09 never mind an '08 in Southern NY |

That new black one is all nice and everything, but everybody knows Orange ones are the fastest. The color comes from the sun which sends out its color at the speed of light. Where the black color comes from empty space, not so much moving, but rather being moved through. So sad. For reference, you can even see more of it with your eyes closed. It also works well for hiding in traffic. When was the last time you heard of 'Blaze Black' or 'Flourescent Black' or Barricade Black'? Sorry, it is just that black is the 'anti color' that absorbs heat and reflects all the colors that it wants to be. |

But my old Carbon Fiber Uly was even faster, because my wallet weighed less. that makes more sense than any other explanation I've heard about the color of your motorcycle going faster. Less weight makes a faster motorcycle. now if you want to hide in traffic, I suggest the orange color because it blends right in with the highway departments road graders and trucks! |

I had to drive 2 hours to get the one I did. There is one in Windsor, ON (http://www.thunderroadharley.com/newdetail.php?new _id=0116), but that's nowhere close to you... Trevor |

Danbury Harley in CT had two Ulys on the floor, not 100% sure on the details, I believe one was a 07 X demo in orange, and a blue 09 XT. Hour and a half drive according to google. There is New Roc in New Rochelle NY, not to fond of them, they had a XB12XP on the floor last time I was in there a few months back. |

Ronjwil, How much did I pay? Before I tell you, I have to give a little background. Also keep in mind that the Canadian market is different than the US. The dealer had the bike for a full year, so he was anxious to get rid of it. List price in Canada when it originally came out in '08 was $13,999, then later dropped to $12,999 (as the US $ dropped vs the Cdn $). The '09's now list at $16,000, but will probably come down soon as the Cdn $ is doing better again. Sooooo, to answer your question, I ended up paying $11,600, minus my trade of $10,000, for a total of $1,600 + taxes. Good deal, IMHO. Trevor |
