I just repacked my Buell Pro Race Muffler for the second time and decided to use rockwool instead of fluff. Much better tone--and improved idle. My Heinie Dyno reports a significant boost in midrange torque (as in ease of lofting front wheel in second :D ) and due to the sturdier nature of the rockwool I expect to get more than my usual 2-3000 miles out of this packing.

I recommend using the orange sensorsafe RTV goo when refitting an exhaust parts as it does a fine job of sealing small leaks/absorbing vibration.

Total cost of repacking materials--less than ten bucks including goo/rivets. Rockwool can be obtained from the local hydroponics supplier/rivets from the hardware store/ goo from the autoparts place.

Enjoy :)
