Hey, i have a 2007 XB9sx and I am debating whether or not to set it up for stunting. I know a couple guys here stunt and I have a few questions if you could help me out. Powerstuntworx makes cage's and 12 oclock bars for our bikes but I hear their cage bolts to the heads? isnt that a little bad if it goes down? also they make a 12 oclock bar that goes to the R but does that bolt up to the S as well? Let me know thanks!!!
My advice, get a cheap second one for stunting. You do have potential to damage the motor mounts with the stunt cage, so your best bet would be to stunt out a bike that might of been down already. Go nuts then, sprocket the size of the wheel, footpegs on the front axle, 3rd brake, ect
I've also heard bad things about the cages. They essentially bolt onto your front engine mounts, so yeah if you go down really hard it may bust the motor mount. Haven't heard of losing the whole cylinder, just the motor mount.
All I did on mine is put some big-ass homemade sliders on the rear axle and a 3-foot steel rod (attached to the front motor mount) to protect the sides. That's about it. I've gone down on one side a couple times and broke the steel rod in half before anything else started to break.
Also, the 12 bar won't work the same on the R as it does the S because it attaches to the subframe which is way different between the two.
jjeeeeeeeez thats like nothing....although i geuss for wheelie's and stuff it makes sense. Im just now getting into like stunting and stuff...i thought i was running low pressure at 28 haha
haha i can already wheelie but thats easy...i want to learn how to do the more advanced stuff u know circle wheelie's highchairs, stoppie's.....all that stuff....im ready just gotta practice haha
how long have you been riding? have you ever had another bike or previous motorcycle use? A 2007 is a 'like new' bike and I wouldn't want to risk damage to it. Can anyone guess what the total damage was for the vid? You can screw up real quick!!!
I have been ridingggg for not that long...4 years? Before this I had an 05 CBR 600RR.....and yeah the crashing part is always an issue which is why i am still debating on whether or not to set it up for stunting as stated in my initial post. I might just buy a stunt bike for fun so it doesn't matter if i wreck it or not.
For insurance purposes I'd say totaled, but i've seen far more dramatic wrecks at the track where the bike and rider were back on the grid that same day.
As long as the head tube didn't come off, fuel tank didn't rupture etc. A little bit of cosmetic pieces and lights (maybe wheels?) and he'll be stunting that one again in no time.
These Buells are tough bikes!

That is why i practice on my 50 (with a 120cc 4speed manual clutch).
I crashed it 3 times yesterday pulling 12 o'clockers. Looks like i will be installing a stubby rear caliper hand brake. You can pull the clutch in all you want but the laws of physics still apply!
Ochoa, thank you for posting that. it's all i needed to give me enuff sense to not try and stunt my ride. i'm not saying anything about anyone else, it's just that personally, i'm not in the position to risk a wreck. and it's so easy for things to get real hairy, real quick
This happened about 5 years ago, it was totaled, something like $6000. But, it didnt mess up the frame or swingarm, just minor scratches and the insurance totaled it. Front end was the worst of course, but the triple tree mount took the brunt of it. Forks and wheels were straight.
Those are gen1 force headers. Had it on my bike with a jardine slip-on while I was still riding it on street, so I just left them on. I've got a crash bar to hopefully protect it. And yeah I'm that good
