Is there any reason to believe a ban on guns could be any more successful? It worked for alcohol...no...wait...

Iam betting less than half of Americans really care about gun rights nor understand what would be at stake to give those rights up. If they pass these laws or more restrictive ones there is no doubt it will be well deserved. |

Terrifying news. This will make the honorable common man defenseless against criminals and criminal government action. Do anything you can to stop this law; your children will thank you. |

Watch this New York elected official talk about an assault weapons ban and how it pertains to guns in staggering detail. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rGpykAX1fo Its hard to fathom people actually vote for people like this and Schumer, Feinstein Pelosi and Clinton. These people actually help pass new legislation affecting the rest of the country. (Message edited by johnnymceldoo on December 04, 2008) |

Court, you can remove the bodyguard part.. I am in class with a bunch of people who have a screwed up view of reality. I actually had 3 people precede to tell me how socialism, is better than capitalism, etc... the whole share the wealth thing... THEN, I said, okay... you are making 40k... I am making 30... You give me 5k, and we are even... the one guy said piss off.... I said, well, it doesnt sound so hot when YOU are the one giving up the money... Regardless, I am all over the place in my thoughts... BUT, I dont see anything good coming, any time soon... Chase |

couldn't a criminal, you know the guy that buys the guns behind 7-11, buy illegal ammo with his illegal gun? |

Al Sharpton said something in an interview once, that really impressed me (can you believe it?). I don't remember the context of the interview but he said something along the lines of that decent people are usually too busy trying to make a living to be able to make a lot of noise to effect political change. |

"I don't see an issue with this. Why? Because ammo makers sell to distributors like Gander Mt. So how are the ammo makers going to be able to track you? All they'll know is what location the box of ammo went to..right?" The ammo makers have no desire to track you....your liberal uncle sam does. You buy the ammo, each round has a serial number, the gun dealer captures those serial numbers and passes said information to the feds. This information will never be purged, just like the info you give when you purchase a gun is never purged. |

"This information will never be purged, just like the info you give when you purchase a gun is never purged" That info is also never used until the ID of the gun is in hand.......or bullet in this case. I've been a FFL dealer for 28 years and NOBODY knows who or how many guns I have sold except me. No records have ever been examined or left the property. WHY? No need. If a gun is used in a crime and it is in hand, the serial number is traced to the Mfg,then the distributor, then the dealer.........THEN they come knocking at my door........or legally bust thru it if they want to. My paperwork is in order and they track down the guy I sold the gun to.......and hopefully find that the gun was stolen from him because I like to think all my customers are good, honest citizens that would not commit a gun crime. I don't sell to strangers and it works for me. When I go out of business, all my records are turned in and filed away under my business name and collect dust forever until a gun is traced to coming out of my shop. My guess is that if the shop burns down, they will want the very ashes of the paperwork in the fireproof safe, if that is all that is left of the records. |

I really don't know how they are going to ID every single round of ammunition. Passive RFID tags would probably not survive the firing, be it the cartridge case or the projectile. At work, we turn out over 200,000 units a day and everyone of them "could " have a unique bar code or chip attached to each one if need be. And it could have a lot of info tied to that individual unit....be it date, time, shift, formula or even operators of the line. Hang on to your ass, the day is coming when everything has a tiny passive chip in it for a cent of two each. Go hide and watch, some stupid law like this will be passed with no way to ID the ammo...guess what? "Hey laughing boy, no more bullets" |

didn't Adolf Hitler ban all guns, and then confiscate them from the hands of all german citizens ??? |

Well, he started with the Jews, of course.... It's axiomatic that the first side to bring up Hitler loses..... The heart of the argument is simple. The Japanese warlords didn't want the peons they ruled to be able to fight back. Substitute any autocracy for "japanese warlord"....same deal. Germany, Russia, China, Iraq, Persia, etc. Same. I challenge anyone to come up with a situation where the ruling "class" denied weapons to their subjects, and it was a good thing..... for the subjects. The Kings & Lords thought it was quite sensible. Today it seems the leftist/transnational progressive types are most interested in having a monopoly on violence. http://www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/000129.htm l I find the section on "sheepdogs" instructive. |

I didn't read but the first two posts on this thread but it made me think of a phrase my hero Benjamin Franklin made. It goes something like this; "Those who are willing to give up freedom(s) for safety deserve neither". Like I said it is not word for word but you get the jist of it. How long before we are wearing helmets to drive a car or to jog down the street ? |

Do you know how many lives would be saved if full face helmet use was mandatory in cars? If all bathtubs were removed & replaced with sit down showers with no slip floors & seats? The lives saved if jack booted thugs went door to door & took all weapons, guns, kitchen knives, bats, fattening foods & dangerous chemicals? If politicians actually did their jobs & built roads instead of personal empires?..... sorry, that last one is just silly. |

The folks behind ammunitionaccountability.org are the same ones who developed and patented the technology to do it. They have a lot of money riding on getting it passed. Over on some of the gun boards I frequent, it pops up from time to time. It's never made it out of committee. Necessity is the cry of TYRANTS and the creed of SLAVES. |

Man this thread has taken off. As I stated earlier I wrote my representative and here is his reply: Dear Mr. Jones: I have an A rating with the NRA and believe in our right to bear arms. This bill came before us in the 2008 session and it was withdrawn. Therefore, we did not vote on the bill. If it comes before the House in the 2009 session, I will take your views under consideration and give it much thought. I enjoy hearing from my constituents. Thank you for writing. Sincerely, Richard Henderson State Representative As a note, I went to school with this guy and he's a good 'ol country boy. Laid block for a living before he was a legislator so I think if he's not poisoned by the career politicians he's going to work out just fine. |

Anybody try to buy ammo lately? I went to Sportsmans warehouse a few days ago to get a couple of boxes of 30-30 and the shelves are nearly empty. People are panicked that their guns and ammo are in jeapordy due to Barak. I think it's a little overblown, but better safe than sorry, I guess. I have to admit, when the market tanked hard I ran over to WalleyWorld and picked up a few extra boxes of 30-06 and a brick of .22LR. It's my own silly fantasy of shooting the elk behind my house when the world turns to Mad Max mode. |

I hope it does pass. It's not taking away anyone's gun. It's just making their use more easily trackable. If you're afraid, just wear a pie tin as a hat when you go out shooting so the government can't take over your brain. With that head in the sand perspective you WILL be completely surprised when they make firearms illegal after restricting ammo. History does repeat itself and this is not a part of history I want to relive. |

>>>People are panicked that their guns and ammo are in jeapordy due to Barak. Right or wrong be the motive, that's a more accurate statement than you can appreciate unless you have tried to buy ammo the last couple weeks. |

Natchez, however you spell it, was running email specials on .223 bulk this week, check it out. sumnabiatch, looks like ammo is now on my christmas list. Wait until the frenzy is over, metals are getting cheaper and there will be plenty on the shelves for less $ when everybody settles down. I'm not buying more bullets until Spring, hoping the prices go more in line with production costs by then}. |
