This weekend, I got to look at the new Buell Outdoorsman topcase at the IMS show in Houston. I really like both the look and the construction of the new cases. Can you use the older case mounts for the new cases? I have the older cases on my Uly, and while I love the side cases (I know some people here don't), I could certainly see replacing the top case with new top case, but I couldn't quite tell if I could use the same mount or not. I know Court put the outdoorsman cases on. Anybody else do it? Oh yeah, I also noticed on Buell's site that it looks like you can purchase the side cases by themselves, but not the top case. How odd. I want to say they are the same mount, but I haven't confirmed it. I am looking to do the same with my bike.

Not odd, the old cases are the same way. |

The top cases interchange, just did it between an XP and XT. They're not sold seperate from the sidecases because the top case rack attaches both to the bike, and to the side case rack system. *although*.....I may have found a way to piece-order.....more to come |

92031-06Y includes the top case (Journey, or "original" Uly case), key set, bracketry, and hardware. Does NOT include side cases or sidecase bracketry, only the stuff you need to add a top case to a bike already equipped with sidecases (again, "original" Journey cases). Did you need something specific from its description? |

Nope, it just confirms what I thought! Stumbled on that number a while back, but CityXslicker was a slacker and didn't get any more info for me. So there is an option for people with just the side cases to get the top without having to buy the sides again. |

Yep, sure is. However, they get another set of three bag keys, since I don't see a place (maybe the parts dept. has a way to specify on the order form) to enter a key code from existing bags. So the key total would be (in this case): 1 - ignition 1 - side cases (attaching latch, and closure latch) 1 - top case (attaching latch, and closure latch) |

Wouldn't hurt me, I already got one key for my ignition and gas, another for the helmet lock, and another for the 3 bags To be honest I am thinking of getting another set of bags and brackets, all 3 bags are beatup, my racks are bent and one case won't latch onto the bracket! But it will be great to use them again after a year of rotting in my garage |

...thought the ignition key was the helmet lock key? When you get close to replacement time, PM me and I'll get you the bag/bracket numbers you need, so you don't have to buy the whole damn kit again |

Long story short I got my tail off a wrecked bike. I didn't post a thread about changing the locks yet. I got this handy dandy sheet with part numbers http://froggypwns.com/buellpdfs/Ulysses_side+topca se.pdf Anyway the pieces I need arent listed. "Side case locking latch (left side shown G" They are listed in that other PDF i have from H&B, the one in German that mentions the Gummipuffers I got to photograph the latch, part of it snapped in a get off, but getting the rest of the stuff I needed for the tail swap is higher priority. |

I found a way to get just the topcase: http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=44567 What I'll have to do is order a new key set for them. I'll probably end up going with the HB keylocks since those are readily accessible. Changing out the keylocks is about a two minute job, I just have to order all three the same. My big concern was if it would fit. That junior topcase is sweet! Wayne |

I just have to order all three the same. Um...that's *six* locks, if you want your 'open' latches and your 'mount' latches to match. Or, with the Juniors...there's 2 'open' latches on each box, totalling 9 in the set. Once I'm done in my case - Journey sides and Junior top - I'm looking at 7 lock cylinders. But since I'll effectively have (for my purposes) 2 sets of bags - Junior top box for general top-only use, and Journey 3-pc for longer trips / more stuff - I'll probably leave the Junior keyed seperately to avoid the ordering nightmare |

Or you can get the H&B Journey TC50 top case. 50L! Makes the 45L Junior case on the XP look like the under seat trunk

Ratbuell: I totally forgot about those other locks! Thanks! I forget how much the cylinders cost, I don't recall them being that much (I had to rekey the HB bags on my wife's bike last year since Twisted Throttle didn't have bags and a top case all keyed the same). Wayne |

Surprise, surprise, surprise.... I stopped into my local Buell dealership today and we found the new topcase. He looked up the kit and we were able to order just the topcase. Part number: M0926A, 1AU Cost is $300, but I won't have to get new cylinders for the locks since we can order the same key code, so it's really not much more. Wayne |

Does the new kit come with lights normally? It wasn't until after I ordered that I realized this was the 40 liter, not the 45 liter, which means only one helmet will fit. Oh well, I still like the look. Wayne |

Lights are only on the police bike. They think some nut job is gonna ride around with police lights on with the civilian model
