Has anyone seen this announcement? Looks like HD is trying to create a demand for the XR before its released in greater numbers.

Yep, it's on H-Dnet and there's a thread in quickboard about it. |

I got a call about an hour ago from Omaha Harley and the salesman told me that Harley is going to pre-sell a quantity of 750 of the XR's to those that want them first. If the price is right, maybe I'll do it. |

The XR1200 is way down on power, as opposed to the Buell Uly - the Uly has close to 15% more horsepower than the XR1200. . (Message edited by johnboy777 on November 22, 2008) |

Everything I've read on the XR indicates that it weighs the same as the Sportys do too, meaning that it will outweigh Buells by >100lbs. Combine weight and reduced power means that it pales in comparison. But...all the press I've read up to now says that its the bike that HD should have built years ago. Still, it looks good and if it handles well it should be a good bike. If I hadn't bought my Uly I might have been buying one myself. |

At the risk of sounding ill informed. Can't you just buy a complete "Trackmaster" chro-mo rolling chassis for like $4,500.00 and just pop in the mill of your choice ? That's what I'm going to do when I get some extra loot for my kid to track on. Mounting some lights and a guage or two can't be that hard. I'm figuring brand new "real" tracker with street mods for under $10,000.00 should weigh 150 to 200 lbs less than the XR1200 too. There the cat is now out of the bag. Who's going to be first on the block to have one ? (Message edited by skinstains on November 22, 2008) |

Owning one of these is all about owning one of these??? Yes Buell's are lighter and can make more power, but it won't be an XR1200. About building a Street Tracker, I think it could be fun, but don't think for a minute I could build the one I would want for anything close to $10K. Now my LSR record setting Blast could also be a nice S/T project and I have given that some thought, but it already has a $10K engine in it and if came apart it would no longer be the Worlds Fastest Buell Blast. So if I was so inclined the $11K for a limited edition XR1200 would be the way to go. ... Terry JT&S Performance |

Buelldyno_guy, why in hell do you have to come along and inject common sense into this? This is no place for rational thought. Shame on you. |

"Cityx" nice post my little 650 motor makes 80 RWHP and 50 ft/lbs of torque and would be so cool setting in there, but I just can't bear to take it apart. ... Terry |

The only problem I see is, it shifts on the wrong side, and doesn't have either a magneto,or kick start. I was actually going to buy one when I first heard about it, but I'm glad I bought the Uly, instead. it's SO much more versatile! |

I know where I can get a 64 sporty sans wheels for under a grand. I just don't have the time or money. |

I'd have to demo it before I'd lay 11 grand down. It can't have a plank for a seat either. Has anyone sat on the Nightster? It might as well not even have a seat because it felt to me as if I was sitting on the frame rails. |
