Hey all, I am posting this here to ask for your honest opinions. I decided for a winter project that I am going to convert my SS into an XT/STT hybrid. I have made a rough Photoshop of what I have in mind.
The biggest change would be adding the Ulysses tail section. I would have it powder coated to match the hero blue wheels. Also will have to swap out the front fairing for the Ulysses setup (not pictured) but have it powder coated black. Either getting the XT front forks and getting them coated black, or getting the 09 SS setup. Either way a XT rear shock. Get the following powder coated to match the Hero Blue wheels: Idler pulley, bits of the tail section, the HVMP bar ends (didn’t come out good in my picture, so I didn’t put it in), GME light bar, cam cover, primary cover and various brackets for the muffler/headers. Again these are just rough images, hence why the stock passenger pegs are still on it So, what do you guys think? Any suggestions? |

I would say maybe a little more black and a little less blue. You can over do it and make it a little to "matchy matchy". |

Yea Ft_bstrd, easy to get carried away. I was thinking of doing the whole motor black, but then I would have to take the engine apart. Problem with that is it will end up going back together bored out, possibly a different cam, and somehow with a supercharger. Since the frame will be sitting empty, I would have to get that done too... Its a vicious cycle, and I need to hit the lotto to support my habits Thanks for the input, I will play around with it. |

Too much blue. Maybe add the frame, but nothing else. |

I would do the same thing but red/cherry bomb. Is it ever going to be "finished" |

Johnboy, That reminds me of the story arc on Arrested Development when Tobias thought he could try out for the Blue Man Group. For the rest of that season, there were smudges of blue makeup on the walls behind some of the actors. hilarious. Oh yeah, and the bike will look good when it's done/you find a stopping point, Froggy. (Message edited by natron on November 11, 2008) |

Take a look to Steve M out of Wis. He did it last year with his SS. It aint cheap, but the end results are striking. He went red. He should have all the part listing and any shortcuts for ya. |

"A Vicious Cycle" - sounds like a good name for a custom. Better than "A Viscous Cycle"... |

Natron that was very funny and unfortunate that show died. Funniest thing on TV at the time and no one watched. "I've made a horrible mistake!" Job's line my brother and I use all the time. Froggy looks good but I do agree with making the engine sides black instead of blue. The forks look sweet may have to umm borrow that idea. I need one of those front rotors too. Hopefully Santa brings me some American Sport Bike gift certificates. |
