Barker- that's a gud ideeur ya got dere. I had the same thought making the trip from Maryville to Dale Hollow Dam on the backroads a couple of weeks ago when this crap all started. Already bought a 3-pack of fuel additive- I'll look for a way to strap on a decent size gas jug. Everyone- it's probably good to set your tripmeters to show ALL THE TIME and stay aware of fuel levels all the time. BTW- kudos to the Buelltoberfest thread logo, whomever did it. It just needs a couple or three dead gas pumps or bagged nozzles to "make it real." |

I wonder how many folks are driving in for the event who could "tank up" at the last closest spot and then sell from the tank onsite. |

If push really comes to shove, my Suburban holds 42 gallons....better keep a close eye on Barker! We are planning to bring a couple of gas cans. How is the gas situation in and around Greenville SC, anyone know? |

FT. B- 'NUTHER gud ideeur. I was wondering if the KTM folks, in planning for their event, have this potential problem nailed down? Who knows how to contact them? Vern oughta have some gas left in his rig- I'll have a different comestible/combustible to trade. Good job, Buell brain trust!!! I bet Britt and G.T. have the info, mebbe some other gas ideeurs. |

Evidently Dale's is out of business for good not just out of gas. There is no gas in Suches at all. Do we need to start calling stations in the area? |

Hey- anyone know if there's a way to retrofit the Buell hydration pak with a different plastic bladder, one that can hold fuel? Weird idea, but I just got to looking at mine and wondering. |

Dales is OPEN, but it is no longer Dales. Dont think they have any gas either. |

Oh jeez. I was worried enough about this small gas tank... now I have to worry about gas itself??? Is there a specific brand or type of octane booster that's recommended if we can only find 87 oct? |

Next closest station to Dale's is about ~10 miles west of Suches on 60 (a mile or two past the turn for C3 Central). I know of one station a few miles north of the Wolfpen Gap Road intersection with 129. Otherwise in the vicinity, there's Dahlonega and Blairsville. Kristi- according to this: http://www.southcarolinagasprices.com/map_gas_pric es.aspx Several stations off I-85 had gas as recently as this morning. |

Mike- my XB9 runs ok on 87 octane, but I prefer the power I get when adding a bottle of fuel additive. It transforms the little bugger! Go to Dollar General or a auto parts place, and look for the $2-3 bottles- no need for the expensive stuff. On the label it says "formulated with jet fuel as a carrier". Love the results... I paid $4.99 for a 3 pak. |

Good thing, I need to fill both tanks on my F-150 to pull the camper to Suches and back. |

Looks like Morganton, Dahlonega and Blairsville have gas. I'm assuming the smaller stations closer to Suches have gas as well. |

I'm assuming the smaller stations closer to Suches have gas as well. That is incorrect. Since the shortage, only the larger volume gas stations have been receiving shipments. Most smaller mom & pop shops are still closed. Happy hunting ya'll! Smokescreen (Message edited by smokescreen on September 30, 2008) |

"formulated with jet fuel as a carrier" lol - Jet fuel is basically diesel. But it sounds cool because it has the word jet in it. |

Since the shortage, only the larger volume gas stations have been receiving shipments. Most smaller mom & pop shops are still closed. Everything I've found on line backs that up. The big name brand stations get gas first; the small indy stations are last on the list. |

The Bad: Many, many, many things have conspired to make this trip a wash for me.... The Good: For less than half the price of the GA trip, I can spend Saturday at JenningsGP getting in some track time. You guys have fun up there and be safe. I'll try and catch you next March!! |

Hey, can anyone heading up from the south on Thursday and Friday give us a heads up on gas availability along 75? I'm heading up late Friday night from Tallahassee, and don't want to get stranded. If I find out there's no gas, I'm not risking getting stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. I figure that with about 140 mile range I'll have to get gas no earlier than the 75/675 split near Stockbridge to make it to Suches. |

As long as there is no traffic. You can get from Suches to Dahlonega with about 2 tablespoons of fuell. DAMHIK. (Message edited by barker on September 30, 2008) |

I can't even make it back to the campground without running out of gas unless Barker is there to save me. |

I seem to have weird luck with gas in suches. Fetching it for DJ and forgetting Dales does not do "pay @ the pump" @ 1 am after driving 30 miles with my fuell lite on. |

It was scary as hell watching Barker "feather his props". That gleaming temple of combustible fluids never looked better. The italian food never tasted better. Strangely, after hours of listening to three Buells with race cans rolling flat out for 8 hours, the music was too loud. |
