I tried to get my bike to start today, and it cranked over and it would start but then die. I thought maybe it was because i hadn't turned it on for a while. Regardless on the final attempt i must have held the ignition button too long (very stupid) and all of a sudden it made a hissing noise and smoke came out of the front of my bike. Now when i turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump doesn't come on and when i press the ignition button nothing happens. I replaced the fuse and still nothing. Did i fry the ignition? Thats what i assume i did. If so how much does an ignition cost? Also is it something i can do myself or should i take it to the shop? Please any help would be much appreciated!!! |

Your bike is an '07 correct? I assume it is still under warranty? |

Hissing sound...smoke...sounds like part of the wire harness shorted out and fried. I would check the harness over in the area where you saw the smoke coming from. |

If you fried something electrical, you'd know it from the nasty smell of burnt wire. First check to make sure you didn't kill the battery. |

okay..so say its the wiring harness...any idea on difficulty to do that myself? And im not sure about the waranty, i need to call. I think I only had a year warranty and its been a year since I bought it but I could be mistaken. I PRAY that its under warranty so it doesn't cost me anything. |

Your first new car is a bike! LOL! I usually void my power train warranty on a car in the first 6 months. |
