Ok, I'm not sure on the how, but I cracked the header on my xb9. Being that My wife can squeeze a nickel till the buffalo poops. I tried JB weld, no good. I'm not real keen on welding the cracks. So, my question today is Should I buy new from the dealer? Or spend a little more and order the ceramic pipe? Is ceramic really the shis-nit? what's the chances of it cracking or getting chipped? I haven't seen one in person, does it look chrome? Any other wisdom you could share that I haven't thought of? |

You're not keen on welding but JB weld is OK?? I hope by not keen on welding you mean you are not good at it. You can take it to a welding shop and have the cracks welded with stainless fill for pretty cheap... |

+1 on the welding shop. It will be quick and cheaper than a new header. (I don't have a ceramic header on my bike, but I have used them on cars) A ceramic header is nice, it doesn't look chrome though, just a nice liquid shiny silver. The ceramic also keeps the heat inside the pipe, so you won't feel as much on your leg. I'm not sure on the chances of the ceramic chipping or cracking though.... BTW..where did your header crack at? |

+1 on getting it fixed at machine /welding shop. I have done the several times with my S1 header, you will also be able to polish that stainless to make it look alot less noticable. Or you do like me and get some header wrap and really get it look cool. FYI get all of the JB Weld off of the header before you drop it off or the shop may not want to jack with it since it is a MESS and PITA to weld around. |

You can go to a good speed shop that builds custom exhausts. Most towns have one. Don't just go to a general purpose welder. When you re-assemble the exhaust pay CAREFUL attention to re-assembly as you can stress the exhaust if you bolt it up improperly and it'll crack again. |
