This past weekend I finally had the opportunity to make use of this fantastic motorcycle for one of the primary purposes I purchased it for. My son Kyle (4 1/2 years old) and I headed out to the majestic Rocky Mountains to camp, hike, and ride the Uly. Our trip took us about 110 miles into the South Park area with the last 20 miles on gravel road to the Lost Park camp area. My excellent navigator got me in the last few miles.
We were able to locate a quiet and secluded site in the campground and only saw two other families the rest of the weekend.
But as soon we got set up, my son insisted we get on the hiking trail to do some exploring
And soon afterwards, I got a bit disorientated
But my fearless leader forged forward
and eventually got us back on trail
The rest of the day was truly stellar.
We ended up hiking about 2 miles and then headed back to camp and set a fire
Kyle enjoyed his first Smore and then we settled in for the long rainy night ahead
We had a perfect weekend thanks to a great motorcycle. Everything packed in nicely in the stock bags and the Uly performed outstandingly well on the gravel during rainstorms. Kyle logged over 250 miles on his first BadweatherBiker adventure and faired very well. Thanks Buell for making this adventure possible. |

Great pics. Brought back memories from hiking Lost Park back in the early 80's when I still lived in CO. We use to park at the camp and hike back in several miles to Lost Creek (I think). Down thru the boulder-strewn valley and camp there. Nothing like fresh brookies for breakfast! |

Very cool stuff. I don't have a kid but this is as close as it gets right now. My friend and his boy, Kyle 9 y.o., on my Uly. Rode with my buddy and his dad as a kid, and now with my bud and his boy as an "adult." Kyle just moved up to his own kx65 but has been wanting a ride on the Uly. They were on their dirtbikes the rest of the day.

You have got it good across the big ocean. Almost no gravel roads to ride legal in Europe. Ride safe Werner |

Wonderful pictures and experience. Pics have me seriously considering an X instead of the XT I have my eye on. Not sure how much I would use it on gravel though. |

Great post. Congrats on the wonderful trip. And the credit doesn't really go to the Uly, great as it is, it goes to the participants. |

Thanks for the all the kind words and comments. Am looking forward to more rides in September. If there are any fellow motorcycle camping enthusiasts who can recommend great spots in the Rockies please let me know. Thanks again! |
