Danger Dave, maybe down under, but an Eastern Box Turtle is indeed a land dwelling unit.

But more importantly how did the turtle taste?

Now did you put him in a soup or just bread and fry the little guy?

We are a lost cause Dave, Americans call things what we want.

Tissue is Kleenex, a bandage is a Band Aid, the Miami Dolphins sport a porpoise as a mascot.....

hell, people are starting to accept Irregardless as an actual word. (in fact the sites spell check let it pass.)

They mix irrespective and regardless in an attempt to sound intelligent and fall flat.

Another favorite is conversate in place of converse.

American Choppers guys do it alllll the time, you could make a drinking game of it.

Sorry but the dumbing down of this country pisses me off, let's build a new stadium and pay athletes stupid money but not support, praise, be fans of and invest in education.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irregardless

Irregardless is a term meaning in spite of or anyway, that has caused controversy since it first appeared in the early twentieth century. It is generally listed in dictionaries as "incorrect" or "nonstandard".

It should not even be in a dictionary.

Don't grumble too much about "turtle" and "tortoise", they're both correct for many species according to which variant of English you're speaking.
Down under, all non-SEA turtles are called "tortoises"...technically, it's still considered an acceptable taxonomic variant, although genus classifications do correspond to the Northern hemispheric common terms.
Greelantern's guess is correct.
It's Glyptemys insculpta
