Why would anyone buy a twin when an IL-4 is better? THAT IS THE QUESTION! I know I did because when the M2 was available in 2002 it looked cool (Classic v-twin, meets newer style frame, NO RADIATOR), had a great Harley sound (with an aftermarket pipe), was comfortable to ride (I am 6'2") even 2 up, and parts are easily accessable and will be for the future (all sportster engine). Now you got more power, which is definately cool, but there is no one feature I can find on the bike (including hp) that makes it stand above all other bikes on the market. So why would anyone buy a current twin when an IL-4 is better? |

So why would anyone buy a current twin when an IL-4 is better? Are there components to the power delivery and torque curve that make a twin more attractive? Why would someone want an RC51, 1098, SV650, Monster? Were we only looking at spec sheets, I'd say you wouldn't. There has to be something more to it than just the spec sheets. |

good looking bike, doesnt solve the needs that my garage has now, but I am sure we will sell a few of them. Once you are on the bike, you cant see the pods at all. I know the last thing on my mind when I was on the track day, ... I wonder if these pods make my straightaways look fat... All time will tell with a demo, or 3. Ours is in Oct 1, just in time for the rain |

I'm thinking a white tank, tail, and scoops wouldn't look bad with the black front faring. Any of you PS guru's want to accommodate? |

Excluding the race-replica literbikes, it wins on power, handling, and price.

Because looking at peak power to determine "better" is an extremely shallow way to compare motorcycles. Tractability, sound, character, and overall power delivery are all vastly different on a v-twin and often times preferred over the inline. |

90%+ of the riders out there will never be able to use the full capability of most IL4 repli-racers and 100% will never be able to fully take advantage of it's capabilities on the street. What I want to see is what the bike's performance is from zero to 100. Above that, and it only makes sense on the track. |

Spec sheet racing is interesting and all, but you can't ride a spec sheet. "Better" is all in how you define it. If you are talking about ultimate peak power for a given displacement (don't get me started on how poor of a gage displacement is when you are considering different configurations of motors) then the IL4 is the "winner" however, if you are looking for the broadest and most useful torque curve, which is probably the better yardstick for a street bike, the V-twins have it. Then again, one of my all time favorite bikes was a cross between the two configurations. My 1984 VF1000F was a best of both worlds design. Buckets of torque, and a screaming (for it's day) top end rush. v-4's are like that. (Message edited by diablobrian on July 23, 2008) |

I wanna see a photoshop of a CR with a muscular arm cocked for a punch painted on the pod. It might need a set of brass knuckles, too. And maybe a pegasus tattoo on the bicep! I think Bigeasy got it right, an American muscle bike. Looks like Buell gets to define that genre and they certainly are evoking lots of emotions. Anyone know if the CR will be in the demo fleet at the inside pass days? I'm going to both Mid Ohio and Jersey. It would be neat to see one in the flesh and even better to ride it. |

I like the pods. The way they sit below the head lights and on both sides of the steering neck, they look like um, uh, well, pods. |

1 day later... I still like it... a lot! Re the different tails (Lightning vs Firebolt style tail) I like the fact that it has the 1125R tail because the seat is a *little* more two-up friendly than a Lightning style seat, but that's just me. I'd always wanted an XB12S with XB12R tail, though the XB12SS kind of fixes the problem with bigger seat anyway. Re the 'bars, at least you can change them to higher bars, and cool that Buell already have higher bars in their accessories. I, IMHO, think Buell have created another great starting point for all sorts of customising... If I buy one, the exhaust will be going to start with, maybe change the mirrors, and maybe someone will come up with carbonfibre pods, or something. Hmmm, sounds like my X1... |
