Not sure if I'm going to the BMW Chief Joseph rally this weekend. Not exactly excited about it, and don't want to take a day off. SO, might be around and hoping for regular June weather. |

Ok here is my plan anyway. Start time 12:00 noon. Which means for those that still want a 7:00 am breakfast still can. Good ride for Ulysses owners as well. I posted this on another meetup to see if we can get a larger group going for this ride. Anyone want to help lead this if more then a few show up. Good opportunity to teach the way of the Buell... "Some of the newer riders should feel at ease on this ride. I would like to break it up into two groups if we have a large showing. One for the beginners (interested in learning to ride the twisties) and one for the more experienced rider. If we are small then we will all go as one using the 30 second rule (or something like that). Riders encouraged to ride at their own pace and be safe. The ride from Exit 10 and 205 tot Detroit is around 80-90 miles. We will then come back the same way because freeway riding simply suk!. Total trip would be a approx 180 miles (with gas in Detroit)". |

Looks like I'm heading over to central Oregon for Chief Joseph BMW rally and overnight camping. Besides, my XB repair parts are not due in until late next week. |

I really want to do this ride, but not sure I can make it happen. Won't know until Friday night. This was one of my favorite rides last year and have been wanting to do it again ever since. |

Jim, I am hoping to be able to schedule a Sunday every once in a while. I just do not know in advance when those can be and I will most likely only have a one or two day notice when I do have a Sunday. Hope you make it. |

Stopped by Latus H-D today to check on parts order. The store is having its annual Summer Party on the 21st. Would be good to have the PBR group represented. |

Well, a ride report doesn't seem nearly as important as a Get Well Soon for the Swede. Hope you're OK, Aron! Stressful work week put me over the edge, and I took a vacation day Friday to join friends for the ride to the Chief Joseph rally in John Day. As Aron noted last week, there are some great roads in central/east Oregon, and it was good to get back out there again. Met up with Beemer friends in Madras, after a spirited ride up Hwy20 from the valley. Our friends ride two-up on a 70s airhead, along with all their gear & stuff for camping... somehow they never look overloaded. In contrast, I'm riding solo and still have a bike crammed full of stuff and bungied all over.
The rally is a big camp-out with BMWs old and new. Vendors also, with cool moto-stuff.
Strawberry Mountains in the background, lots of good roads nearby.
Turns out I was glad for the vendor participation, since my rear tire was shredded with belts showing... Pirelli Strada that lasted about 5k miles with big ol' Yours Truly aboard (plus trip stuff and some 2-up riding).
Weather turned wet on Saturday, but still had a good ride home - overly cautious due to the new rear tire. |

good to hear you had a great trip. So did you go all the way up to Joseph? Only 5K seems low or is that the norm for Stradas? |
