As I've posted elsewhere on this board, I wrecked my FXDX last Saturday. Damages included the tank (pretty bad) and the front fender (pretty minor). The claims process is going slowly, but the real frustration is the dealership told me the wait for painted parts from HD is 8-12 weeks!!!!! I don't know how I'm going to be without my bike that long. Is this normal for HD? Dan |

I'd say that's normal. Can they search other dealers' inventories? On the off chance that someone might have one in stock. |

Normal. My understanding is that painted parts for production are done in 'batches' of color. White, then black, then 2 tone...you get the idea. Replacement parts, i.e. non-current colors in most cases, have to be scheduled into very small breaks in the paint line. As you see, those breaks don't come along very often. |

That's a normal wait time. I was told 6-8 when I ordered some painted accessories for my sportster, but they showed up in 2. |

That sounds hopeful. |

Yeah, I ordered a tour pack for the Road Glide in the 105 Anniv. color and it only took 3 or 4 weeks which I thought was pretty reasonable. It may be that more current colors take less time. Although I have to think HD could keep 10 guys employed just keeping up with wrecked parts. |

I agree. With bike sales down and plants being shut down for periods of time, they could probably stay busy for a time just fixing what we break. Oh and I do have my parts now and back enjoying the ride. |
