hi guys had a bit of bother about two weeks ago my x1 engine managment light came on so i pluged her into spy ecm ( best thing ever ) and the o2 sensor in the exhaust had got too •••• got a new sensor onfriday fitted it sat morning and 30 miles later the lights back on again ecm said same prob can anyone give me any idea whats going on please cheers | ||

Trace the wire, could be shorted. Also, if you were over-zealous with antiseize or threadlocker on the sensor, it could be fouling the signal (NEVER get any chemicals on the sensor nipple itself - INSTANT death to the sensor). The manual and the sensor instructions always say install with antiseize, but I always install them dry (they ground through the threads) and use the crush washer for its intended purpose. If you wire a voltmeter in line with the sensor you should be able to test it out to see if its working, or if it has a bad ground/signal. (Message edited by ratbuell on May 04, 2008) | ||

well the wire between the o2 sensor loom conetor and the ecm is goosed how can i fix this help | ||

It's low voltage+low current. If it's shorting against ground just wrap it in some electrical tape and keep it away from the pipes (hot pipe melty melty!) If it's broken to not connect, solder it, don't use wire nuts or crimpy things. The thing only puts out 1V so it's easy to see if you lose .3V, you're not going to be happy. I hope this helps. | ||
