Charlie, I'll take her for a spin for ya' as long as you give me written permission. After the forced labor I endured from borrowing the last offroad bike I don't want there to be any questions when I bring it back to you . I'll never forget the look on my buddies face when we brought his new bike back to him with partially collapsed rims and the pegs bent down at a 45 degree angle |

C'mon Charlie you trying to tell me you ain't never destroyed a friends new bike he worked all year to afford ? Nuts' brother rolled in today so me and the Nutbag are gonna take him on a little D/S ride tomorrow. The plan is to lull him into feeling comfortable and then suck him into acting like a mad man on the muddy, funky sections. Mind you we don't want him to be injured or the bike damaged but a few pictures of mudhole bails sure would look good in my collection . Seriously though he is a good dude so we will probably take pity on him instead of publicly posting embarrassing crash pics like Nuts did with our good friend Tank |

Charlie, Tank, We had an awesome time today! John (Nuts brother) rode the Honda while me and Nuts tooled around on the DRZs'. I think both Jason and myself were pleasantly surprised by how quickly John was able to adapt to offroad style riding. By the end of the day he was looking like he had been riding for years. He even made it through the mudrun without bailing it although he did get a little squirrely once or twice. John crossing his first creek ever The brothers Nuts going through a mudhole Followed closely by John Me and John giving the hemorrhoids a break More pics when I get them from Johns camera. |

Jackie, Nice pic's, was it cold that day? Y'all look like your dressed for winter. Were sweating our you know whats off down here,it's staying in the mid eighties most of the time now. I read a passage in a book once that said: in the summer, the only difference between Charleston SC and the Gates of Hell is a screen door. I totally agree. |

It was actually pretty pleasant out. I'd say around 75 degrees but overcast which is perfect riding weather for me. We got tired of taking the rain suits on and off in between rain showers and the mud holes so we just left them on hence the bulky look. So are the reptiles out in full force down there? One of my favorites from your area is the Green Anole. Got any of those living in your backyard? |

Jackie, Actually I ran into one of your little green buddies Friday at the machine shop. I asked him about car insurance rates but all he would do is flash that reddish orange thing under his neck at me, must not be affiliated with Geico Insurance. |

Charlie, If he was flashing his dewlap at you then he either found you attractive or thought you were competition for the attention of his female lizard friend. Either way sounds like there is something strange going on down there |

Jackie, I don't think he found me attractive, since he took off in a different direction. But I didn't see a female either, so I guess I better keep looking over my shoulder. |

Charlie, Me and Nuts are having a friendly disagreement that perhaps you can settle for us. We both agreed to let you be the judge and will live with your verdict. I will be the first to say I am SLOW on a streetbike however I do know how to ride offroad quite well. Just because I choose to ride conservatively he busts my chops about not being able to ride dirt either. In the first picture he posted that is me jumping. He swears up and down that he believes it was a mistake and I was on the verge of losing it. I have told him several times that I was in complete control but he ain't having none of that. Notice how I am riding the tank, bent knees, controlling the rise of the front end and focused on my landing. He says when I landed I kept giving it gas however he is overlooking the fact that in order to raise the front end off the jump AND to keep the front end from slamming down I purposely manipulated the throttle to get the desired effect. So what says you? If I don't get some vindication I may be forced to attempt a rather large jump on Wednesday when we go to South Pedlar in an effort to get some respect from Mr. Knowitall. Then again he may be purposely trying to bait me into more jumping so he can build up the nerve to try it himself (oohh, low blow delivered to Nuts ). Jackie, I have done some off road riding in my day. But the bikes were not nearly as advanced suspension wise as they are now. You still look like your in control, but you are definitely reaching a limit where trouble starts. A still shot doesn't really give you a good picture. If your landing was good then I say you got bragging rights. And it will take a crash to prove you wrong, so stick to your guns and make Nuts out do you. Any landing you can walk away from is better than one you can't |

Thanks for the input Charlie. The landing was superb. Rear wheel touched down ( I don't believe it bottomed out) followed by the front wheel hitting the ground without bottoming out. Tracked a straight line and then worked the brakes to maneuver around the trees ahead of me. I will wholeheartedly agree that I was at the extreme of what could be done off that particular jump but that was the point. A one time balls out effort to show that I did indeed at one time ride dirt with aggression although I am certainly past those days. I will now fall back to my normal laid back riding style to avoid me and Nuts teasing one another to the point of one of us breaking our old, brittle bones . I swear he tries to bait me though. We will ride along at a leisurely clip and then he will speed off. I catch him and then he goes faster which in turn makes me speed up to catch him. I think the dude thinks his real name is Jeremy McGrath |

Jackie, When he starts trying to wear you down, head for a really tight tree section. With his frame and those gun boats he will be sitting in the middle of the trail wondering what happened. |

I say any maneuver completed without crashing is a good one... I should know, right?? The re-built shock should be back here very soon, and will need to be properly tested on appropriate terrain. Ya'll got any plans??? |

Yeah we got plans. We are going to hit real offroad trails tomorrow as well as...get ready to be jealous.... a bit of single track. Mad now ain't ya' ? If I were you I'd plan for a Thursday or early Friday arrival shortly after June 16th when Patterson Mountain OHV opens. We can ride there and then hit the Jeep trail if you ain't broken anything to see if we can keep your streak alive . Sound like a possibility? |

Oh my, is that a challenge that has been issued? I will not be pawed at thank you, although I will happily snap pictures of you and John doing your thing (or picking up the bikes). I know it ain't important to you but we need to spend just a few minutes figuring out the camera settings so we get clear action shots. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more, the ride or going to the Cracker Barrel afterwards |

"bike collector" Haaa, ha! And here, we just thought you were a "Trader"! I have a unique opportunity to not get paid time off around Memorial day weekend, thru Wed. I could work Tues, and go to Busch Gardens on the Company tab on Wed and get paid for the holiday and the day at the Park. But it's just too good of an opportunity to opt-out of the free money. 5-day weekend. And come back in June... What say yee's about Mem. weekend? |

Let me do some checking with Nuts and we shall see if it can be arranged. On my end I do know that I am unavailable the 24th and 25th. 4 ball games and the youngsters 10th birthday. FUN STUFF man! What day you thinking about arriving and departing so we can discuss it on the way to our off road adventure tomorrow? |

If you are tied up on the weekend, I could Hotel Sunday night and head for the camp spot early Monday morning. This is all totally tentative at this point. I just had this "bright idea" a few minutes ago. p.s. Good Night! (Message edited by Tank_Bueller on May 06, 2008) |

Mem. day thing aint happening. Traffic will be murder, and I already obligated myself to go to Busch Gardens and get paid for it. If I ditch, it would be like giving the bossman the finger. I have done it before, but I try to choose my battles wisely. |

The brothers Nuts showing good form Just finished the KNARLY rock garden Beautiful view of the James River dam Nuts and John enjoying another view Me getting sucked into acting a fool John having his turn And then there's always...Nuts

Jackie, Good looking pic's,you guys are living the life.Anything that much fun, they will have to find away to tax it. I just spent all day yesterday at the track, four of us worked all day. Some A-hole came in and broke into the concession stand and the restrooms and stole all the copper pipes, wiring and even cut the cords off the appliances. He might have made 10 bucks. We replaced everything with plastic pipes and romex wire. He even took all the speaker wire he could reach and trashed the spickets trying to get them off....And they say booby traps are illegal. |

Charlie, Sorry to hear some scumbags trashed the facilities. Its getting so you can't have anything anymore without somebody messing it up! Copper prices must be high because the local news has ran several stories of similar thefts here as well. Good on you guys for pitching in and helping to get the track together . We are gonna have to get Tank on this trail. Tall bike + short legs = OUTSTANDING photo opportunities (Message edited by luvthemtorts on May 08, 2008) |
