I have an '06 Uly with a K&N filter and an '07 airbox. I had a Special Ops on it and put in a race ecm. I think I might take off the Special Ops and put the stocker back on. Should I put the ECM back to stock, or will the race ecm be better as far as performance? |

The race ECM is designed for a freer flowing system (e.g., race can & K&N filter), so its set up to run richer, which isn't a bad thing, really. Unless you are concerned about mileage. Besides, the AFV will automatically compensate (within its allowable parameters, that is), as well. Okay, actually I don't know what I'm talking about, see, but this almost sounds about right...no? EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. The race ECM has no provision for the stock muffler valve actuator - it can't read it or turn in on and off. . (Message edited by johnboy777 on April 12, 2008) |

If I have the race ecm with the special ops muffler on, what should be done with the valve actuator? should it be wired open or disconnected? Thanks |

Wire it open...or have Odie remove the valve when he builds it. Although with ECM Spy, there is really no reason that you would need a Race ECM anymore (although I do use a Race ECM with my Race Pipe). |

If I wire it open, will that have any adverse effects on anything else as far as trouble codes or lights? I am using a stock ecm with race data. I use ecmspy. |

Oh yeah, almost forgot. The race ECM has no provision for the stock muffler valve actuator - it can't read it or turn in on and off. With New version of EcmSpy turning it off is just a mouse click now! |

Well, That's easier than wiring it up. I downloaded the new version today. I'll have to play with it WHEN IT STOPS SNOWING!!!!!!!!!! THanks, AR |

You still wire a stock valve open. EcmSpy just takes out of the eeprom, So it wont throw a code or CEL. Or for use with a Race Can. |

You don't have to worry about throwing a code - just detach the cable at the actuator or at the muffler valve (or altogether) and wire it open - the ECM only reads the actuator operation, not whether or not the valve is actually operating. With the valve wired open, you will lose some bottom end, but no big deal, really. Or, the default valve operation is closed (via the spring inside), so that you could leave it closed, but then you lose top end - although it would be a tad quieter. If, however, you want to remove the actuator, then you would need the American Sport Bike emulator or the new ECMspy. . |

Ok, here's another one. Has anyone put baffle cones in their exhaust to try and quiet it down? |
