For those of ya'll that heard my good word at MBV.....due to my "checkered" driving history, I am uninsurable by HD/Buell employee standards. Unfortunately, I will not be able to become a part of the Granite Mtn. HD/Buell team until these dang "fast awards" drop off of my record. Although Im heartbroken, I can say that it was truly an honor to be considered for such a position and will have an awesome story to tell my grankids about how I almost ruled the Buell salesworld... Thanks to all of you for the kind words of encouragement, and to Mr. Gower for extending the opportunity to me. It was almost a dream come true. On the bright side, I still have all of my riding time! C'mon BUELLTOBERFEST!!! |

I think what he means is that if your driving record is crap, you can`t work for a company who requires you to operate numerous vehicles. We sometimes get guys applying who cannot be insured. |

Too many moving violations, the company will not insure him. Had a guy at were I work who was let go because he had too many traffic tickets, none at work but too many none the less. The company's insurance company refused to insure him, he could not drive the company vehicle, he could no longer do his job, so he was let go. Well he actually reapplied for a job that did not require company vehicle insurance, but he was released from his job because of it. |

damn torque, i know how syked you were for that job and i'm sure you would have been a good asset down there. just from talking lately with them i think you would have been in good hands to make the most of it at that store. sometimes we do things that have a tendency to bite us in the ass later on. the only thing to do is get past it and look forward. other opportunities will come along, maybe not as great but who knows. keep in touch. |

That's odd...does one really need to operate the motorcycles to sell them? Don't they have shop help to move the bikes around? |

I can't drive company vehicles because I won't show them that I am insurable. All they need is a look at a current insurance policy on my truck. I won't give that to them ......simply because it's none of their business. I told them I had free pass on any company vehicle when I started there 15 years ago and it was not a problem for anybody. Now it's a problem. Not my fault and I ain't bending for outside reasons. If their insurance company had any moxie at all, they surely could find out my outstanding insurance status and say "OK , he's good to go". Fortunately I don't need to drive a company vehicle, but when I need to go to the South plant or to any other company dealio's like training....they have to chauffeur me. Also, I can't drive my own vehicle while on company time. Yes, I am being a dick about it and the joke may well be on me someday. It's the only leverage I have on them compared to ALL the leverage they have on me. They never hold it against me or use it as a dark cloud above me for some odd reason. Probably never will. They know I stir the pot and I think they know that I am right, regardless of the minor hardship for them. |

I'm sorry that opportunity did not work out for you. How long before those transgressions are forgiven? Maybe it is something you can still do in the future. |

Travis - sorry to hear this. I know you were really excited about this opportunity. If it's truly meant to be, then it will be. Give it time. It took M2nc and me 4 years before we could make our move to NC. Hang in there. Until then, we will have our 6 month GA mountain fixes! |

Torque, out of curiosity exactly how many tickets do you have? Feel free to ignore this if you feel it is too personal. |

Hmmmm, Here in lovely Europe most countries will allow you to, "offset" violations & recuperate points by going on a safe driving course. This of course ties in with your insurance as well. It may be worth your while to enquire from the insurance company if you can do something similar. |

you can do that over here to. i think your allowed to do the driver's safety course about 5 times in your life time. i think i might have one left myself. but i also think if it's over a certain speed than your pretty much screwed. not sure on that part cause i've been able to do it everytime so far.even last year which was 101 in a 70. |

well, in the past 3 years ive recieved 3 "fix it" tickets and three speeding tickets. I dont think the "fix its" should have shown up, since I immediately rectified the situation. Go figure. Two of the three speeding tix were actually "earned" while trying to avoid getting smooshed by cagers that rolled up on me WAY too fast. The other one...well, lets just say I was one with the cyclone at that time..."fast award" definately earned!!! I believe everything happens for a reason, so maybe it wasnt time for me to make this move. Ill just wait it out for 3 years (thats when theyll drop off of my record) and see if another opp. like this can be had. I'll still be into Buells by then...the tattoos tell me so. ...By then I should know a helluva lot more about these bikes and maybe even how to ride them. LOL I think insurance was an issue because Id probably have to lead demo rides (if they do em' off co. property like they do here in P'cola), drive co. vehicles to service customer needs, etc. So....Im off to South Florida in two weeks to earn my CNA certification and then Ill be attending courses to become an LPN. The money aint bad and itll afford me the opportunity to visit Suches more often. I dont think I can wait til October to return. I know somebody's birthday celebration is on the way... Thanks again to everybody for your support. Its very cool to have total strangers turn into friends over the course of a rainy 72 hours. Im looking forward to hanging with all of you again, and this time, I wont be so reserved. (my red and black tiger striped thong trumps spideys pink one, no doubt) |

So....Im off to South Florida in two weeks to earn my CNA certification and then Ill be attending courses to become an LPN. You ain't got nothin' if you ain't got a plan. This sounds like a good plan to me Travis. You'll never be out of work and your professional qualifications could make you invaluable to the right person in the wrong circumstance (you're riding with me next time!) I imagine the wife is probably feigning sympathy over this... |

after explaining the gravity of the position I was offered, the wife's tune changed dramatically. when the offer fell through she offered plenty of comfort Dj, I have a buddy that is an LPN and he gets invited to ALL the rides. I cant count how many times he's helped a downed rider, myself included. Lookin forward to seeing your xt, Neil. Im ready for some REAL ridin' and birthday cake....C'mon June 21st!!!!! |

Getting th CNA cert and the LPN license is a good plan, my kid is a LPN, works through a few agencies when she wants, and makes real good money, does a lot of traveling and lives the good life. Not RN money but good. There is always a need for heath care workers anywhere you go. Good choice on vocation. |

Should be plenty of tread left on these new conti's by June, Glitch. (at least the sides...florida roads...LOL) Thanks, Bill. I figure its a job of necessity vs. luxury. Even if the economy takes a dump, Ill still be employed- although I really need to study up on how the possible changes to the health industry could affect my career... although I really need to study up on how the possible changes to the health industry could affect my career... Well if some politicians have their way, not only will you have gained a career that there's always a need for, you'd also be working for the government. I digress... |
