I installed my Kuryakyn to the master brake cylinder, good place but I like FB's better. Kuryakyn is hard to see with direct daylight behind me.

I'm also thinking of getting one of these but mounting the LED up where I have my AutoSwitch LED instead, above the gauges and in the dash. Using FB's excellent tutorial I would put the AutoSwitch LED into the instrument pod.

A heated grip indicator could also go into the other vacant space maybe. Man the BadWeB think tank rocks!

Here is another of the the Fatty VM Mod - the monitor flashes green - yellow- red (2 each) prior to start. I wasn't quick enough to get a shot of it green (although apparently I am going pretty fast in neutral...in my garage. This is a great mod - and easy to do, Thanks again FB!

Looks great!

Did you mount the controller box on the rear of the cluster housing as well?

What LED color does yours settle on when it's time to start it?

Settles in on steady red pre-start, I will be at a point to start my bike Saturday and see what we have (better be steady green!)

Initially I tried to mount the control box on the side of the fairing housing, but there was not enough flat surface. I ended up mounting to the underside of the top fairing support - although I don't think I trust double-stick tape to hold a top mounted item. This pick shows the original mount location - plus the Stebel (wired the ground for the VM to the ground for the Stebel on the right. Relay in the front is for the horn, black and white wires are for the PIAA switch.

A little wire tidying this weekend I am ready to button 'er up!

Mine is solid red until I start it. Then it's solid green.

That would make sense. Solid Red means that the battery is between 12.1 and 12.6 volts.

I've noticed that when the bike first starts up and it working it's way toward a nice steady 1000-1050 RPM, that it will be in the "amber" range. Blip the throttle, and it goes green.

Pretty cool to actually be able to see what's going on.

Got everything fired up this weekend (long story involving the check engine light, some head scratching, a couple of beers, more head scratching - then firmly plugging in the ECM to make it all work.....)

Solid green when running, amber when first starting - very cool.

Here is a pic of it installed - the voltage monitor is the gray rectangle above the Stebel and its wires are zip tied behind the horn.

MikeF as you can see there is plenty of room up front! Plankton rocks

Damn, just ran into a snag, my XB12SS isn't blessed with an accessory plug, I will try and tap into the lowbeam wire, as my bike has the both lights on mod.

The LED plug hole is 1/4". The knockout is 3/8"ish. Same with gauge cluster circuit board.

I'm dying to do Fatty's Battery Status Mod, but I have not found a dash background that I like yet. I would love to have something one off, with our screen names or something....I dunno.

I did do the front wave rotor with double H sintered pads, Dark Horse Moto hidden Ducati Brembo rear caliper mod, Pelican trunk mod, Electra Gliders Temp Dipstick mod, The Scorpion EXO 1000 painted to match the Uly mod, and the XOPTI Inside Eprom mod. So six mods for the weekend kept me pretty busy.

Must find custom dash....

Thanks Ft_bstrd, the monitor was about the easiest thing I've done yet. No pics from me, but yours helped make it easier than the included instructions. Looks good, works great.

Tread- Side note, how do you like the XOPTI Eprom mode. I did it on my 12 with a D&D about 3 weeks ago and its a BEAST.

Tq,

No more stumble or hesitation at low rpm, no pinging (never did tho), no more bouncing off the rev limiter, can't keep the front wheel down, absolutely no popping on decell and the micron never sounded so good.

To elaborate more would take us waay off topic. Probably should start a new thread to discuss, if more Badwebbers are interested.

Subject content... Still searching for a kick azz dash plate.

Thanks Fat Bstrd
I think you saved me a big pain in the butt.
I'd been thinking my battery has been going south for some time now. It doesn't kick the bike over with authority any longer. Like always I was putting it off.
Installed my voltage indicator tonight and it confirmed my suspicion, blinking red light when engine is not running. Then turns steady green once at idle.
Preemptive maintenance... time for a new battery!

Bosh: Mine did the same thing this past November. Dealer put a new battery in and within a few days the new battery was weak again. It turned out to be the stator. Keep your eye it!

I hope this isn't a reoccuring theme here. I just installed my voltage monitor and it does the same thing, blinking red when not started. Once running it's green and it has been on a battery tender all winter so far. I hope that it's not something bad (like the stator). It's only seen Formula + in it.

But I placed my LED in the spot to the left of everyone else. Install was real easy, except for finding a place to connect the wires to. So I spliced into my aux power (which already has my heated grips and PIAA lights spliced into it. For the negative side, I just grounded it to the headlight mounting frame.

I also installed a Fiamm highway blaster, 130db horn. Quite honestly, I can't tell the difference between that and the stock horn.

My battery is new. It still blinks or is solid red when not running. It is usually solid amber or green at idle and solid green when running or idling while warm.

If your battery is turning the bike over, the red light is flashing it doesn't necessarily mean your battery is dead. It simply means your charging system is between 12.1 and 12.6 and discharging.

When your fuell pump kicks on, your headlight comes on, the electrical lights come one, etc., all are going to drain your battery.

Have your battery checked. If it tests good, don't worry about it. It will start at red or blinking red.

I ended up unplugging the connector going to the AUX power supply, pulling the pins out and soldering the voltage indicator wires to the pins. Looks factory once I put everything back together.
