A few days ago I saw this on the motorcycle.com website. Go to the manufacturer's website for another look. So whaddya think? I must admit that given the amount that I ride the Uly a reusable oil filter sounds like a great idea. And they do make one for the Uly, too... |

I've always thought it was a good idea, but I've never heard very much feedback from 'happy customers'. Plus, it would take about 60,000 miles just to break even, $wise. And, I could see me cleaning the reusable filter -- I'd use enough contact cleaner to offset any ecological benefit of discontinuing oil filter disposal. |

Al sells one on his web site at American Sportbike. Wonder what he thinks of them? |

Seems to be more like a very fine strainer than a good filter. |

Seems like a lot of money to pay for having to do extra work. |

I have used an oil filter from Scotts on my CRF450 the last 3yrs without any problems. I change the oil quite a bit and it saves having to make sure I have a filter on hand. With the Uly I can get a filter at the auto parts store when I buy the oil so I decided not to get one. |

How much crud do you see trapped in that scotts version? I would think that a dirtbike would get more flak in the oil than a street bike. |

I clean it with carb cleaner in clear container and I see a few shiny bits, but the oil usually does not have much more than 5hrs on it. |
