Roughly 15,000 in many countries. It's the most valuable advertising dollar a Buell dealer can spend . . . IF they are a "good" Buell dealer. A dealer who understand Buells can sell a TON of stuff as a result. It's not however for the passive or feint of heart. Badweb is the quickest, and most accurate way to move information to and fro among Buell riders. . .. LOTS of them. To give you a sense of the geography . . on one day last month my cell phone bill had calls to Russia, Holland, UK, Italy (3), UAE, South Africa and Saudi Arabia. If your dealer has any questions have him call Blake. I'd be happy to call your dealer as well . . . I've been doing this for 20 years and know (I've attended many dealer meetings) a number of dealers. Court P.S. - Badweb was the name, prior to changing to Fifth Avenue, the web dudes who hosted the original group . . . the "weather" thing was a "force fit". |

. Buell's are all named after weather. Ahhhh yes, And now for the weather. Coming out of the east, we have a series of FIREBOLTS with heavy concentrations of Ulysses to the north. Watch for intermittent BLASTs of 1125r's in the west....Now for some baseball scores.....3-5, 8-7 and of course 1-0. |

"force fit" I forced fit once and she walked bow-legged for a week...ta da da dum. Seriously, I'm giving them some info and the link, they can decide on if this is something that will give them the exposure they want with out a "hard sell". I will say this, I do believe there's going to be another rider's group in SE wis. Our first ride may just be the Homecoming run down to ET. Thanks to all. |

P.S. - Badweb was the name, prior to changing to Fifth Avenue, the web dudes who hosted the original group . . . the "weather" thing was a "force fit". sorta...kinda...accurate... back when BadWeb was just a few guys on an e-mail list (we were using motorcycle.com as our web presence back then), we asked our peeps to offer up suggestions for a name for the website we were getting ready to launch. "BadWeatherBikers" was one of Blake's suggestions, as it tied in nicely with Erik's model naming protocol, and this proved to be the biggest vote-getter among our group. i voted for this name, too, and suggested the acronym "BadWeB" as i thought it would be an easy, catchy way to say/remember the website's name. that the folks who ultimately ended up providing the server for the site happened to be www.badweb.com was purely a coincidence. as far as the overall template/format for this site, Blake and i narrowed the choices down to five, and i suggested this one, in part because it most emulated motorcycle.com's posting format. web board "templates" back then were certainly nothing compared to today's offerings, but i think BadWeB's format has held up remarkably well. Blake, please correct me if i'm mis-remembering any of this stuff - 1998 was SO last century. FB |

posted on Motorcycle Online February 3rd, 1998: Anyone interested in joining/forming a newsgroup/email list concerning Buell motorcycles send email stating such to me at "***@***.net". I've searched far and wide and have not found a Buell specific group. If anyone knows of one already in existence, please let me know. Thanks, Blake the rest is history in the making. |

Kinda . . sorta . . . .I guess I should say the "B.A.D." part was given to us by our friends at B.A.D. . . . now West Fifth Information Services. |

And, even though Brent Plummer had started Motorcycle Online in November of 1994 . . the Buell discussion there didn't catch on for a couple years until Larry Wallerstein, Jeremy Ricker, Rich Ray and others started migrating from the old site. . . . Those were wild days. Anyone here remember the owners chat area on www.buell.com? It lasted until the first "comment". Motorcycle Online has certainly been through some changes as well . . . they'd likely still be involved if those . . . uh. . . "pictures" that were supposed to be "hidden" from public view got some folks in trouble. |

John, If you've not looked at it yet, the Knowledge Vault here will give you access to the single most comprehensive repository in the world of things people want to know about maintaining and working on Buells. The majority of the people here do some to all of their own work. A great many have service manuals too. And any and all quirks, adjustments, misadjustments, easier ways to do things, and virtually everything can has and can ever gone wrong with a Buell and how to fix it is in the KV. Welcome aboard! I guess I should say the "B.A.D." part was given to us by our friends at B.A.D... they became involved after the name "BadWeB" had already been agreed upon by the members of the e-mail group as the acronym for the site. yours truly gets the nod for being the "BAD" guy in this case. in fact, as memory serves i originally suggested to Blake that our web address simply be www.badweb.com, which led him to discover that there was already an enterprise on the 'net using that name and address, who coincidentally happened to be in the board-hosting business. we need to get this right - who knows, some day somebody may write a book...

I think, if I recall correctly, after Jerry coined "BadWeB" from my "BadWeatherBikers", he then helped kick things off by putting a new PacBOG T-Shirt on the line against... well I dunno what lame offer I put up for the wager... but my challenge was to get our little email list onto a web-based discussion format before Jerry published the next installment of Sportbike U.S.A., the absolutely wonderful PacBOG bi-monthly publication that Jerry poured his heart and soul into for so long. So I went to register a domain name. Come to find out that www.BadWeB.com was already taken. Darnit! But then come to find out that www.BADWeb.com is an internet service provider. Cool, sign us up and off we went. Within a few years, we outgrew the shared server and virtual domain and so moved to our own server with BadWeatherBikers.com, and have been there ever since. Thanks mainly to all of you who make BadWeB such a fun and informative place to visit. Go Buell! "BadWeatherBikers" rolls of the tongue a little better than "BadAssAircraftBikers". So we went with it. Who knew Erik and company wouldn't consult us on future model monikers. PacBOG,Hey Jerry! Cool. Anything else remaining online of PacBOG of SBUSA? Would be cool to put up all your issues for folks to read here. I could PDF 'em, if I had 'em. |

Ah back in the heady days when we were all just coming off of BBS boards from CompuServe, before Al Gore invented the internet... I am up on a couple of boards daily, but only one is my start up homepage ;) Thanks gang for all the support, advice, trivia, banter, and hosting. |

badwarplanebikers.com, i.e. BadWaB??? hmmmm, that MIGHT have worked... Anything else remaining online of PacBOG of SBUSA? Blake, it just truly blows my mind what leftovers are still on the 'net from PacBOG and SBUSA! man, that seems like SUCH a long time ago. i have two large file cabinets of Buellish material from those days, including a zillion photos, a worldwide Buell registry including full VIN codes, every issue of SportBike USA - from the first issues that were composed on an electronic typewriter and hand-stapled, to the last issues which were full-color and professionally bound and printed - and all manner of stuff in between that i think would be interesting to fellow Buell fans and historians. so.....would you (and anyone else) be interested in The Ferris Files???
