Specifically, the cams are identical and the crank reduces stroke and thus displacement and thus HP. |

Yes it will, but you will need an 08' Rotor and mount bolt. We ran a few different versions of this at Daytona this fall. It is an excellent piece and in earlier models can be lightened to spin up very fast! |

I first heard this from Corvette owners discussing "de-stroking it with a 283 crank - for more power". That was in 1964, I see it's still around. |

Hoban, Does the different journal size cause any problems with regards room in the old cases? |

Hoban, I've got a crank question, are the press together tuber cranks worth having rebuilt? I've got a 2K Cyclone down due to a bad crank. It's hard to justify a new crank since they almost doubled the price a while back. The rod bearings are shot due to an oil starvation problem (my oil filter backed off, didn't catch it in time.) Thanks much! Brad |

Bombardier, To define older cases I will go pre and post INA sprocket side bearing years. If you have a Timken bearing style motor, the new style sprocket shaft will not work, if you have INA bearing model you should be fine. Brad, Unfortunately it is not a cheap date any way you go, we do have all the neccessary pieces for rebuilding, but each case is different as to the cost effectivness to rebuilding vs. purchasing new. Most all of the ones we rebuild in 1 piece XL/X1/XB based flywheels are for racers with higher output. |

I would like to ask Mr. anonymous if he could tell me some data on my engine rebuild. This job is being done at Arrowhead harley in Glendale, Arizona. I was interested in the parts being used and possible benefits of the outcome. My service rep could not tell me much about the data until job completed. This is a warranty job.if you need a vin # email me @ chalupa_n_u@yahoo.com and I can provide data. I understand that new avenues had to be explored in this case.possible custom machining and one-off parts used? |

The only way to really benefit from a de-stroked motor is to combine the higher rev limit with a bigger bore like an 1170cc screamer. Maybe you're thinking of the popular XB9 pistons with xb12 heads? |
