last photo for the day, kiddies, a fitting end to an adventurous journey. not bad for a 25.6 mile round-trip, eh? (and not bad for the middle of winter.)

ok, there you have it, the first installment in an ongoing series called LOL!, a quick peek at about 25% of Isabella's shoreline from the perspective of a street bike that THINKS it's also a dirt bike, but really has very little business being off-road.

the same could be said of the rider.

stay tuned. : )

thanks Timbo! i rode thru this area for the first time back in '97 ('98?), visiting friends, and fell in love. it wasn't long before Lake Isabella became my new home. i've enjoyed your pix in the Seal Beach and Long Beach threads, too. having a digital camera has added a fun, new dimension to my riding, and "hunting" for photo ops can make even a short 25-mile ride like yesterday seem like much more. : )

I can not believe that you took off to have some fun and you left poor D home all alone.

Great pixs! : )

Toothbrushes for donuts eh? I'll have to remember to leave behind only the kind you eat then. Btw I give you lots of credit Denise as I know that you would have used the garden hose instead of a silly old broom.

Just got through hosing down the KLR on the lawn. Hope it enjoys all that fertile mountain soil! Geeeez.
Yes another digi-camera is on my "to spend for" list. Before long hopefully but the size of said list is a bit frightening compared to my income!
Yesterday wouldn't have produced many pictures as the fog was thick and there were few places I wanted to even slow down let alone stop! The best pic would have been of the family of deer that ran up TO the road to see what kind of idiot that would do what I was doing. One look and off the way they came. Would of never got that one. Could of got one of the KLR with it buried above the rear hub in snow and mud tho! That's when I decided I'd had enough adventure and turned around. Actually for a little bit I thought I was walking ( sliding? ) down to your house Jerry as it was incapable of moving. But I did manage to yank it up out of the muck by hand and drag it around in the snow to point it down hill. That close to the top I just didn't want to fight any more mud but mud was easier than snow AND mud. I'll be talking a little higher pitched for a day or two.

Ok Jerry here's the rest of the story. Stayed up late playing with the kids & computers so I slept in. When I got up I beeline to the computer and look at the rest of your story & pics. First mistake.Start housework & carry the dirty clothes to the washer. Second mistake. Washer's in the garage. I hear voices. The S3 is happy as it's been on alot rides lately. The XB is lonely. The KLR is nagging "Wash Me" in the worst way. Yep your right, out comes the riding gear and me and the XB have a date. Your giving me bad habits Jerry! ( Well thats MY story anyway).
Sidebar- Along the lines of you told me so my Frank Thomas gear is coming apart along the seams in a number of places. Again. No endorsement from me either.
More later...

Had company...
Anyway its a nice day so a short run to Woody seems like fun. I don't make it. I ran into Mike (remember the guy who calls me ED?) and two fellow Harley riders at the Hill House Monument. It's the typical conversation start, I say "Hi" & turn off the bike & they say "Whatzat?". I say "the fan". Now a new twist as one of them says " Wow I've never even seen a Buell". An animated conversation starts about fuel in the frame, oil in the swing arm, front brake, rear belt pully, how small it looks and so on. Thing is I have not been ABLE to GET a word in sense saying "the fan"! I'm the only guy with an XB for 60 miles in any direction that I know of. That fan is going to sell a lot of bikes. But not here. If anyplace has roads made for a Buell this is it but the local Harley shop hasn't a clue or care!

CRAP! My oldest just woke the Ferbie up! Damn thing can go for months without a peep. Bout a year and a half back one of the kids stuck it on my dresser. Thing sat quiet for about two months until 3am one morning when it started screaming "-a-dootle doo" a number of times and then gave the most demonic laugh I've ever heard. I think it took about 3 days for my heart rate to drop back under 100. Darn Kids! I think the oldest is getting a little too much like me.

this shot is for JB2. he knows why.

Yeah what's funnier is that I had to explain when you received it. 'Course since I use a license plate as a template it does throw a few riders off but I've never had one returned. Most of the guys around here fight over them and steal them from one another. ; )

When we were setting at Davis and you were mulling over the deal and the bike didn't I say that you would effectively double your road list when you bought the Strom? It's okay to get it dirty. In fact I'd even give it an all-over olive drab paint job just to make your wash and ride that much easier! : )

Great pictures even with the show bike in the background! : )

UBear, not to worry, i've got plenty of bad habits to go around. : )

JB2, i've got an equally cool kickstand plate hand-crafted by our good friend Dino. don't tell him, but i haven't seen it since the move. know it's still here, gotta find the box it's stored in.

tell ya one thing about the 'Strom, it's an awful tall bike for someone with stubby little legs mike mine, makes riding thru soft sand or mud an exercise in terror.

musta done ok tho, as D didn't chase me with broom, toothbrush, OR garden hose when i got home. : )

You know those Harley guys had already rode 30 miles to go eat. SOOOOO of course the next stop was the Long Branch Saloon to drink.

P.S. One should never stay up late, drink & post on the internet.
P.P.S. I'm not sure but after Sunday I think Kitty is still alive. Good thing no camera for this one.

Evaddave, had the Thing Formerly Known As Yellow up to a buck-thirty-five just around the corner from Gassin Pass a couple weeks ago, just to see what it'd do. (MIGHT have squeezed another mph or two from it, but was running out of road.) never thought that maybe i was loosening up all the yellow paint in the process.

PdxJim, finally got a full day off yesterday and got the tank painted (have been nibbling away on the rest here and there the past week) and the bike all glued back together yesterday afternoon. first ride in forever, got a little wet but HAD to do it.

Unibear, Basic Black it is, and i'm really happy with the effect. looks better in the pix than in person, but hope to fix that when the paint has had a chance to pop (not helped at all by the low temps and high humidity).

Dino, thanks, will keep an eye out on your thread.
