ok, so I took the basic MSF course a while ago and I want a more advanced course. Any courses you guys can recommend that you have been to? I have seen some of the track/racing courses, are those worth the $$? | ||

most MSF course locations have an Advanced Rider Course as well as the Basic Course, check into that with your local MSF outfit. | ||

The Rider's Edge class contains the same curriculum as the MSF class, with more riding time and hands on instruction. There is also a Rider's Edge Advanced Riding Class. IMHO, the Rider's Edge classes are well worth taking. Our instructors are friendly, dedicated folks. I'll probably be taking the Advanced course this summer. Planned it for last summer, but wasn't able to because of the accident. | ||

Kieth Code's California Superbike School is totally incredible - If you have a bit of riding experience (not still figuring out where the shifter is) it is one of the best investments you can make to further your riding abilities and enjoyment. It is set up and run in 'levels' so you start at the basic level and advance as you master the skills taught for that part of the course. I actually haven't taken the full sportbike class - I did the "Harley Only" class he did several years ago, and I learned more in the first hour than I did the entire time of trying to figure it out on my own for over 25 years! Track schools are very much worth the $$ IMO. The techniques you learn can save your ••• on the street. You will learn to trust the fact that your bike is so much better than you'll ever be, which may some day save you from freezing up and blowing a turn or worse. For me, doing track schools and days have made me aware of how dangerous speed is on the street, which in turn has made me slow *way* down when street riding (the little I do).I now save the speed for the track, where the odds of getting away with less injuries after a crash are much better. As for the schools I've attended: Code's school is great for people who like a very structured approach to learning better riding skills. His on-track instructors are excellent, and he checks up and makes sure they're doing their job. Pridmore's CLASS is a great first time on track. Very safety oriented, and he makes sure to control speed and passing rules so that everyone is comfortable. Tries to make his teachings applicable to the street as well. Jason Pridmore's STAR school: great instructors, all racers - which of course makes the teachings more track and speed oriented. They try to fit some street smarts in as well, but the focus is mainly bike control using techniques from track and racing. All are good schools with slightly different focus. It really depends on what you expect to get out of 2 days on track. And please do yourself a favor and sign up for 2 days. First day is likely to be very frustrating, whereas everything will come together on day 2. Have fun Henrik | ||

American Supercamp is a dirt track school but a lot of fun and you do learn some serious bike control skills. Propably not as useful for a street rider as the pavement schools but a whole lot of fun. | ||

I've heard very good things about Freddy Spencer's school as well. Nick Ienatch is an instructor there, and that alone would make it worth the trip. Of course, it'd end up being a bit on the pricey side flying out to Vegas, rent a bike etc. etc. Henrik | ||

Just to add my 2 cents worth . I took this class last year and really enjoyed it - http://www.cornerspeed.net/, Aaron Stevenson ( he owns a S1 btw ) who is the head instructor/owner , is a great teacher. Hes willing to help his students out as much as they want , plus he limits the size of his classes and trackdays. ANd he holds it @ VIR - a great track even if they can not get along with the AMA, but thats a different story  | ||
