Well, my Bookie advises I wait until Monday before placing any bets. LOL

JQ's parts list leaves me with mental pics of a multitude of designs. The comment about being designed for the Euro Market hints that it would be more like a big bore street fighter than a street tracker. This makes more sense than a street tracker as the new bike would be pitted against the MT-01 and others like it. Dang!

Good thing it is a Harley as that means there will be a ton of parts available from both the Harley and the Aftermarket to make it whatever you want. Can you say, "Transformer?"

I can't wait to see what the folks at Harley decided on. This is going to be a very long weekend for me.

"This is going to be a very long weekend for me."

Don't worry, you'll be so busy shoveling snow that the time will pass quickly. I'm thinking it will be later in the week at the earliest before we hear anything concrete to give the attendees time to get back to their shops to spread the internal word before we the public start knocking on their doors asking for delivery and price quotes.

MikeJ...I live to shovel. Snow, Ca-Ca or whatever!

My Bookie will be at the dealer show this weekend and hopefully he will have some info to share on Monday. A pic would be a real clincher, eh?

Glitch...In as much as I would prefer the street tracker for purely selfish reasons, as indicated in a previous post, I have to agree with you. Oh well, won't be long now.

I agree, I'm just opining that the US market was not the 1st target for this bike. Europe is #1, then the US, then Asia.

I consulted another Bookie and a Tarot Card Reader and both indicate JQ is correct on both counts.

Consider what the Euro manufacturers and now Yamaha have produced in the last few years in the big bore naked bike performance category and it is obvious that Harley is in an excellent position to produce a piece of rolling art to compete.

Looks like this will be an exciting run for the roses and the anticipation of what the other manufacturer's not yet in the category may do is mind boggling.

If it's more like the former that the later then I can just imagine how some shops will react to it, in particular the ones who moan about Buells and groan about the VRs.

This could be a very interesting spring, especially if what I read on the other forum(s) rings true about mandates and incentives as well as trends mentioned on the site here elsewhere.

Okay, now if the local job market would just open up some ......

Mike...the only openings locally are for part time, temporary help primarily involved in snow removal.

Not to worry though, in a few months that will be replaced with lawn and garden services.

The interesting part is that these economic opportunities have opened up for folks like us as a result of the lack of teenagers that consider manual labor a worth while endeavor anymore.

Heck, all I need is a truck and a trailer. With three generations of L&G equipment in the garage, I can run a 4 man crew year round quite easily.

Hmmmm...What am I waiting for???

If Harley does it, it will be cool, but I would no more want a Buell badge on it then I would want a Buell badge on a Yamaha VMax.

A wicked powerful wicked fast straight line naked standard would make a perfectly good Harley, but would (IMHO) be an embarassing Buell.

It will be a really cool bike, but relative to my XB9sx, it will be a long heavy boat of a bike.

Getting back to the spec sheet, it mentions a five gallon tank and longer shocks.

So that probably means that it has twin shocks like the current VROD.

So where did they put the extra 1.3 gallons?

Does anybody remember the Yamaha Virago 535? My guess is that they added a second gas tank with a regular gas cap to go over the airbox so you can fill up like a regular tank and hoses connecting the top tank to the one under the seat fill up the lower one.

Cataract2...It can't be a Buell. It's not going to be as nimble. Think of it as an MT-01. Nothing more than a good looking fast bike that will handle reasonably well and not something you would want to take to a Track Day.

Lots of current and potential Harley owners are looking for just that and they really aren't Buell material. If they were, they would already own one.

JQ...I recall the Scranton, PA bike from one of the MC Mags a year or so ago. It really got some attention, even here on the BWB.

Would think the extra rise in the shocks would be used to raise the saddle to give more leg room with the revised peg position.

If you raise the saddle and use the same basic frame geometry, I would think a slightly taller tank would be proportionate.

Oh Man, the suspense is killing me!

What's next, an XB with hard bags?!?!

You never know. Don't see why not for a one up sport tourer, or two up for Munchkin's.

I wonder if the new V-Rod platform may be better or at least more comfortable for two up sport touring.

Whew, this is really pushing the envelope. LOL

Mike...You should know that I am too poor to pay attention. Heck, I am selling everything I can to get a new bike. If this one is what I am hoping for, I just may come out of retirement.

Thanks for the link. I caught that last night on another thread here on the BWB, but must have been in a rush as I didn't read all the posts. Looks like the folks on the V-Rod site are as excited as we (better make that some of us) are concerning the new model. LOL

Nice to see that there are others that dream about the future like I do.

from the person who posted the original specs over on vrodforums.com, some more info after someone posted the two "artist" renderings:

quote:

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough. The new bike looks just like the old rod. It still has a low sleak look. It doesn't look like either of the artist renditions posted. The main cosmetic changes are the higher exhaust and usd forks. It is a bit taller due to longer shocks. Keep asking ?'s and I'll answer the best I can.

Sounds like current Vrods are but a few part swaps away from this bike, cool for me, maybe not for everybody else.

That sounds reasonable. It's a VMax killer (though I don't know that it could actually kill a VMax in reality).

JQ...Just a note to let you know that I checked out all 5,020 pics in the V-Rod Forum's gallery and found quite a few really nice bikes. I really liked the street fighter models from Switzerland and Germany.

Additionally, I really liked reading the posts on the different thread. Is the best Harley site I have seen. Not the usual potty mouthed BS. Do you know of any sites like it that cater to Harley's in general?

Concerning the report that the new V-Rod will not changing much, I think I will stick in my wait and see mode. More fun playing optimist, eh?
