I am the only one that has a hard time getting parts for my obsolete antique Buell from a buell dealer. Not weird stuff, brake levers, shifters, electrical stuff. I have a 24 yr old yamaha and don't get the runaround I get from buell dealers. |

It's sad but most dealers don't stock alot of Buell only parts for tubers. Most stuff is available if they'll take the time to order it. Find a better dealer. Dave at Appleton, Hal's, HD of Baltimore, any one of them would happily overnight you anything you need. |

Short of gaskets, plugs, and oil filters our dealer has to order everything! Now in their ads they sell themselves as "The largest seller of Buells in the country". Go figure. And even worse, I ride an 03 XB9R! |

supposedly the Topeka,KS buell dealer is one of the best and I'm only a couple of hours away. but whenever i call it is always pay first and we will call you with no definite delivery date. I buy more stuff for my bike from ebay than any "LOCAL" dealers. One is in topeka, KS the other in Hays,ks and the other in Stillwater,OK. All about 1 to 2 hrs away. I would love to have Dave from Appleton be a local dealer if he is as decent to deal with as he seems on this board. Next time I'll call him and pay shipping. |

>>>Find a better dealer. Dave at Appleton, Hal's, HD of Baltimore, any one of them would happily overnight you anything you need. That's an accurate statement. I had someone tell me that Buell S-2 decals were "obsolete". A quick check of inventory yesterday revealed something on the order of 1,000 in stock, ready for shipment. Three dealers had told a customer "not available". If you get that about ANY Buell part, I'd call either Dave Chall (Topeka) or Dave Steuve (Appleton) or any other reputable Buell dealer. Many dealer maladies have been wrongly ascribed to Buell. Court |

I wouldn't mind being able to get stuff from topeka or stillwater and take a ride to go get it, kinda make a day of it was the plan the times I tried to get parts. go check out the new bikes again blah, blah,. Maybe get some other riders together. it never has panned out cause they never have my part. Doeflers in Hays was a buell dealer last year, don't know if they still are. |

Tom, Here in Rochester, NY I can either wait a couple weeks and pay more or I can call Dave at Appleton. He will track down the parts, be it at another dealer or in Court's basement and then keep at it till you get your stuff. Usually 1 - 3 days and he gives badwebbers a discount. it works! |

Buell dealers are usually also Harley dealers. Harley dealers don't like stocking items that don't sell frequently. It's easy to quickly get an out of stock part from another dealer...but you usually have to ask. |

I went out to dump the leaves in a patch of woods that I hunt. Got them unloaded and thought I'd drive down to one of my tree stands there. Guess what? Nice big doe standing about 30 yards from my stand Now if I'd have been smart, I would've taken my gun along to my stand, it was in my truck, then I could've! Oh well, that only the half of it. On my way back to town after the second load of leaves. I'm driving down Hwy 63 and they are picking corn off to the side. Just as I get even with the field out come 2 bucks! One 6 point and a HUGE 10 point! I'm going back to hunting tomorrow! Dave |

Court : You wouldn't happen to know the correct part numbers for 96 S2T decals , would you ?? . To be more specific , S2T's which were painted quicksilver metalic used blue decals , these are not listed in the 96 S2 parts book. I'd like to order some spares , I have a few assorted other decals , none of them are the blue ones used in 96. Thank's |

Hey Bill ; Thank's , I'm getting "laid off" , um ........... taking a bullet for the company , It's my turn . A by-product of all this spare time will be a small run of special tools on an as needed / as requested basis. My ten week "vacation" begins Nov 1 . In case you don't already know I have a very well equipped home machine shop , I sold the 3 in 1 mill / lathe combo and bought a stand alone full size mill and a 12 x 36 lathe this year . Many of the service tools a dealership uses can be "reverse engineered" , I have spent a great deal of time doing just that , making improvements and changes as needed . I have a lot of drawings of tools I've made or intend to make now that our first arctic front has arrived , dumping several cm of snow. For quite a while I have lurked rather than participate , for a variety of reasons , now that riding season is almost done I'll try to join in discussions more often . |

Sorry to hear that... let us know if we can be of any help. I don't have a ton of contacts in that domain, but I will keep my ears open for anyone that might need some fabrication done. Tuber types (I broke down and traded for a 9sx, but I miss the M2 already) here will sooner or later need the crank seal seating tool, the 5th gear drive assembly press out anchor plate, and that primary chain sprockets locking bar at a minimum sooner or later. It probably would not hurt to whip up some of those. Whipping up a set of parts / tools to replace isolators would also be something I would have been happy to be able to buy had I not traded in the M2. |

Jeff, Please include me in the parts/tools list as well. Finally getting the garage kicked around to where I'll be able to finally start working on some projects. Sorry to hear about the situation, but good to hear you see it as an opportunity instead of otherwise. Who knows, it might take off and you'll become a supplier instead of an employee to the former shop. Anyway, include me in the list for the tools you fab up. Thanks. MikeJ |

Fellas: The truth about tools............................. From a certified toolaholic There are certain tools that are best aquired , by purchasing them................................... for example , a clutch spring compressor , these are available from a variety of suppliers , Drag Specialties , CCI , Motion Pro , Parts Unlimited , Jim's , etc. . Kent Moore tools are available from Harley Davidson dealers . Mac tools has recently introduced a line of powersports tools , many of them are Motion pro products , marketed thru Mac. What I am trying to say is , I can't make certain tools for a lower price than what you would pay for commercially available products. Much of what I make is specialized stuff , used to remove and install valve guides , valve seats , bushings , bearings , seals , etc. , normally used along with a hydraulic press or arbor press. Court , to do your wheel bearings , Motion pro makes a nice removal tool , with two sizes of split collets and a wedge type driver handle , it's cheap too go to , http://www.motionpro.com/ The neck bearings are easily removed with a Jim's bearing race driver , it is the same as used for Big Twins , go to , http://jimsusa.com/ ............ I'd like to hang around and share some more info , but my sweetie just phoned from across town with a dead battery , I must go to her rescue. This discussion will continue ....... I probably should take it over to the KV .....Later |

"Kent Moore tools are available from Harley Davidson dealers " You need to add the word "some" to that sentence. Then you have to talk to the right people. Then you have to get past the issue of "we don't sell those to customers, those are for dealerships only". Been there, tried that, now if I figure I want some "factory" tool I first get all the part numbers and proper tool names together, then go to specific dealerships and talk only with specific people. Jeff, I'll accept your judgement on what to get where and will still wait to see what you offer in the "special" category. I think there is/was a tool section someplace on the site here, I'll try to find it later. |
