I had a tinfoil hat moment on the way in to work this morning.

With the gubbamints fingers now into GM (and others, but GM for this thought), and GM's OnStar in every vehicle...

So do you think they'll give a tax incentive to those that opt for the microchip inplant? Or do you think they'll just tax those that don't heavier as a punishment?

They do already. I pay, somewhere between begrudgingly and happily, twice the amount on toll boths here in Illinois for NOT having an iPass.

I'm rather surprised that they haven't yet begun to use the system to issue speeding tickets [based on point to point times].

They tried doing this in New York (I'm assuming other states as well). Enough people said they would turn in thier E-ZPass that they decided to drop it.

French have had that capability for years with toll tickets. It doesn't get used much though, generally after big race meetings to nail the f'idiots who think they're the stars of the track on the road.

You thinking that with the persons name, vehicle make, model, serial number, ON Star equipment, and a warrant that the vehicle history can be tracked, recorded and used as evidence ?... been done

You thinking with the lock out codes and remote access that the vehicle can be remotely disabled?.... been done

You thinking that your play list (this is for the ford guys) your music preferences, your commuting habits, your speeds, your services are reported back to some main frame at MS HQ? betcha they are already doing it.

I drive an old 84 pickup, when I drive at all. This moment of tinfoil brought to you by... Paranoia, just because everyone is after you doesnt mean it isnt crazy.

City, it doesn't work that way. If you're really interested you can find the info online. Not saying it couldn't be used that way in the future.

Gregtonn is closer to the mark.

carbureted 1.5L '87 Civic.. tin foil?

I don't need no stinkin tin foil. I don't even have A/C or power steering! I REALLY don't think I'm being tracked.

Wouldn't matter too much.. Rita has Parkinson's at anything over 65 so she doesn't see much speed anyway.

Sorry but if I wanted something that was old, smelly, and never runs right, I would get a Ford.

John law will do anything to get a buck out of you these days it seems...

Even spending mutli-billion budgets to make a state of the art tracking system that is effective as a person with a car being in a highly visable area.

Why would we wanna save money???!!!?!?!?! we can just make more!

reminds me of that movie "the fifth element" with bruce willis.

The cab he drives sqwacks out in a computer voice every time he cuts someone off/causes as accident/speeds or anything. About 30 mins into the flick he punches his hand through the dashboard at the damn computer pulling out a handfull of wires/circuit board and sparks. All the while cursing and throws the box on the floor in the car as he speeds away from the police.

Seems more and more real every day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCaomvjPIok "the fifth element clip" he goes ape S**T on the computer at 2:45 and 6:10. much the same way I would.
