This guy is Crazy fast!!! Nobody has a chance to win when he's on the track. I know it's some what early in his career to compare him but, how do you think he would rank up there with the likes of a Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Bob Hannah? All of them at their peak?
McGrath was the man that got me into motocross. He was the man for a long time. Then Carmichael came into the mix and took over, domination also. My vote is for Carmichael. I still think he should have raced a couple of more years.
Bob Hannah was before my time, so I can't say much about him, other than he held it down in his time.
Bubba has amazing abilities on the motorcycle; any race he enters is his to lose. I'd like to see him change disciplines and go flat track, or better road racing. Chad Reed, he's likely to be the bride's maid again; if Bubba doesn't get hurt.
this question "how do you think he would rank up there with the likes of a Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Bob Hannah? All of them at their peak? "
is easy. HE WOULD KILL THEM. and i say this based on one thing. technology. stewart is a god on a dirt bike. when he is calm and riding "off the edge" he is scary fast. he has beaten Carmicheal many times. i think they is what they say he is, the fastest man on the planet.
Stewart's fast...when on two wheels. Chad is the smoothest but doesn't hang it out when he's behind...still in first place in points! . I'm pulling for Ryan Villipoto. The kid is crazy fast just has to get used to the 450's...give him time.
Comparing present and past athletes is almost impossible. If the " Hurricane" had the suspension and tech of today he would have been faster, in his day.

Chad Reed has won races with injuries that would have put other guys in the hospital. Say what you want but that guy is tougher than a $3 steak..
James Stewart is crazy fast. Ricky Carmichael is amazing considering he's no bigger than Ryan Seacrest. I watched him during a "high jump" competition and he hit something like 35 ft.
Yes Danger_dave, His name is Chad Reed, and he is from DownUnder.
However, I stand by my statement, that if Bubba doesn't crash out of the series, Chad will be a disappointed #2 again... It eats Chad up inside, gets in his head big time, when he doesn't beat Bubba.
Tell you what; if Chad defends his title, I'll owe you a 'Fosters' or a pint of another brew of your choice.
It's pretty hard to compare past riders based on equipment, track layout, etc because so much has changed. When McGrath came back I thought it would be a joke, but he actually did pretty well (btw, I don't really like him). But yeah I would say Bubba and Carmichael are rediculously talented.
Never liked Reed's attitude either. Bubba and Carmichael are my freakin heroes. I've seen several times where one of those guys crash out on the start, end up in last place, then pass every rider on the track and win.
I guess Reed almost did that a few weeks ago at Anaheim, he ended up getting second. Lucky.
Stewart wins 6th straight event; 2nd place goes to Chad Reed... Stated in a press release: “I got great starts and I was there,” stated Reed. “I just wasn’t quite fast enough." “I am really excited that we are leaving California tied on points,"
