I've seen and read articles on the RS1200 but can't ever remember seeing an actual road test of an RR1000 or RR1200. Did any magazines ever do one at the time, or a comparison? I'm really curious as to what they are like to ride. (I haven't ridden any Buell earlier than '99 so not sure what it would be like)

A crazy idea - I wonder if a magazine would be up for a 25 years of Buell comparison:
RR1000 vs RR1200/RS1200 vs S2/S1 vs M2/X1/S3 vs XB9 vs XB12 vs 1125.
Yep, it'd be hard to put together, but it'd be cool : D

That would be cool, but most if not all of the magazines gave the new Duc Monster more page space than the 25th Anniversary of Buell. Yep, very sad.

For a test on the RR1000 you can see the Nov 2008 issue of Motorcycle Sport and Leisure by Alan Cathcart.

Thanks, I'm trying to hunt down a copy of the November issue.

True, they don't get a lot of page space, but the new CR is at least getting Buells in the magazines on a regular basis at the moment.

I did manage to find an old article from Cycle on the RR1000 (I actually found it on The Team Elves web page), but as far as I can tell the writer didn't actually ride it... Anybody know of any other road tests, new or old, of the RR's?

Lemonchili,

Here's an Excel file of the magazines with RW 750/RR 1000/RR 1200 articles that I have in my literature collection.
 RR 1000 and RR 1200.xls,application/vnd.ms-excelRW 750/RR 1000/RR 1200 magazines
Buell RW 750 (23.6 k)

Some of these are definitely reports from riding these classics.

Maybe I could scan some of the articles and Email 'em to you,
1313

Hey 1313,
You rock! I've been searching and the only article I've found online is the one from Cycle April 1986.
If it's not too much trouble I'd love it if you could scan a couple of articles : )
cheers,
chili

I got some articles from 1313 (THANK YOU!!!!).

The RR's must have been pretty amazing bikes when they were new. From what I've read it seems about the only thing you could compare them to at the time would be a Bimota db1 (or maybe a Ducati 750-F1). It sounds like they have that same quality of the harder you ride it the more it makes sense.
(Note, I've never ridden a db1 either, just going from what I've been told)
