No. This board is my 'refuge' from all the other boars that are "New & full of technological gadget 'wonder' of avatars, signatures, etc., etc." They had 'em before, people couldn't behave, they're gone. I'm good with that. | ||

I don't see why avatars can't work. I'm sure there was a very good reason why they didn't work here in the past, but every single other forum I visit has them, and there's never been a problem I can recall. My Vote is YES | ||

I'm on a couple of other sites as well that have them, and even there there are incidences of folks pushing the limits, and "the limits" doesn't necessarily equate to porn or soft porn or pseudo porn. My vote: don't care either way as I know if they do reappear then they will be watched closely and probably eliminated again. "Please avoid discussion here, I just want basic “Yes”, “No”, or if you can think of some other good answer like “Yes but only if I can disable it so I don’t see them”. See, that's what I don't get. It CAN be done, other's have no problems, but BadWeb admins can't handle it? sure we can handle it. it just got to be a pain in the butt. started out fun and innocent enough, but sure as the world peeps gotta push the limits and eventually muck the thing up enough that we said to heck with it. i don't see it as a big deal that we don't have 'em. they're not the reason i - and most everyone else, i suspect - like to hang out here on BadWeB. I'd love it, but there's a couple of issues. 1) If its a PITA for Blake, why bother? 2) Everybody using this board now realizes that there were issues with poor taste in the past...what about new users in the future? The same problems are going to happen later. Sure everybody signs an agreement, but who really reads it? | ||

Even some of the profile pics have pushed the envelope. There have been a few where I've opened up a profile page to send a PM to someone and oops  , had to stand up and do a prairie dog check to see of anyone was peeking over the cube walls when the page opened  . | ||

Your mixing up your nerds, World Of Warcraft dosen't use dice, but it does have a roll command that by default generates a number from 0-100 for deciding who gets loot. I like my Blood Elf thank you very very much. | ||

But I still can't figure out how to post a pic so I'd probably never figure it out anyways... easy get a http://photobucket.com/ acct , upload your pic , click on it choose edit/resize and then choose preset size , click on tiny . voila that's for avatar size . to post that pic in full size , slide over to the pic in your album you want to post then slide down to img code , click ,its copied . then in your post go right clik /paste and done deal | ||

Thomas, i edited your "I've ridden here" map on the other thread so the image would show up and not just the URL. easy to do. start with the command: \imagelink { then paste in the image's URL immediately following the above command, i.e.: \imagelink {http://monarch.tamu.edu/~smrs/18553435.gif and then finish it all off with a closing curly bracket, i.e.: } so that it looks like this: \imagelink {http://monarch.tamu.edu/~smrs/18553435.gif} and you get this:  works for jpg's and gif's up to about 70 kb or so. NOTE: THERE SHOULD BE NO SPACES IN THE ABOVE COMMAND STRING. shoot me a PM if you have any more questions. Happy Holidays and best regards, Ferris | ||

If this were V bulliten each user can control what they see and dont. With that said if you dont like avatars or sig's you can turn them off and never have to see them. You can also put users you dont like on "ignore" and never even know they post. Dont get me wrong, I love Badweb(even if it is a very outdated bbs) and if it never changes I wont care, but if it does I will proudly support the changes. And my avatar here would be my profile pic, best pic EVER. |
