I am looking at getting a new helmet and I am currently looking at the X-11 and the new Bell Star. I have read very positive reviews on both. Ventilation on each is suppose to be at the top of its class. The X-11 I tried on at CycleGear. Its seems the XL fits best. With my head its a little loose on top and snug around the cheeks. (Must be a joke in there somewhere). I would probably end up switching out cheekpads. The Bell Star I can only find online.

So......just looking for some feedback about the two.

Thanks

X-11 is a bad ass helmet!
I have the RF1000 and after I bought it I tried on the X-11 and wanted it pretty bad!
But it comes with a nice price tag!

Never heard of the bell....don't they sell that brand at walmart, haha!

Bell's new entry into the premium helmet market is worth a look! I have yet to see one in a shop, if you can find an online retailer who'll let you exchange if it's the wrong size buy the Bell. You'll be the only one around with one guaranteed.

Buy the one you think is coolest. Both are 'comparatively' noisy - but then so is a top of the range Arai. More vents = more noise.

If i had to nominate an advantage for any of the top shelf helmets it's that Shoei have the best Visor system by far.

+1 but also remember to buy the lid that fits the best, that is most important.

= 2

Here's an Arai argument.

I've just taken over the new products pages for Kiwi Rider (go go gadget dave!).

COMFORT FROM ARAI

Arai make different shaped shells and liners for the variety of worldwide markets, but it’s difficult to mould the cheek and chin areas to suit every individual.

Arai have solved this problem by designing interchangeable liners and cheek pads for each of their specific models.

Your local Arai stockist has these different-sized components to ensure an exact fit that will last for years.

Arai changes shell every two size increments - rather than use one big shell with a variety of different foam liners.

The advantage is that Arai helmets maintain the correct thickness of inner shell and comfort material for every size.

Arai says that ‘Once you wear an Arai, you’ll always wear one.’

That system wasn't on the Bell I tried. Older model or renamed for OS markets maybe. It didn't have as big a duck tail either.

Like the X-11 there - is the X-Spirit here.

Please read:
http://www.metricbikes-superstore.com/How_to_fit_a _helmet.pdf

There are many good helmets but I prefer the Shoei X-11 because it fits me. I can also wear an Arai Profile since both are made with for a long oval head. The models are not just a designation of features but also shape. If you get a helmet that does not fit correctly it can compromise its ability to save your ass if you ever need it. Find out what fits correctly and wear each one for about 20-30 minutes in the store to make sure that it does not develop hot spots after you wear it a while. Next if you find one you like on the shelf and have decided to buy that helmet then ask them to get one from the back of the store. The reason is someone may have dropped the display model and this can also compromise the helmets shell integrity. If you get one that is still in the box then it has been protected by foam in the shipping box.

I may have to add the Arai RX-7 to the list.
I wouldn't, having spent several years at dealerships, I have seen numerous Arai helmets have vents and rubber trim fall off of them while sitting on display, customers complaining about pieces blowing off while riding, ect.
Great looking lids (I've got an Astro and Supervent sitting on a shelf in my garage) but to me the quality isn't there anymore.
Bell is an unknown at this time, unless you ride a BICYCLE.
What's the choice again?}}

Bell is made in China ! The Chineese have put lead in our childrens toys and therefore cannot be trusted to build a helmet out of quality materials not to mention a quality build. I hope I never see one of those lids on the street. FTC ! I wear a Shoie X-11 and love it. Hand made in Japan by workers who are proud of their job and do it well.

I've got half a dozen RX-7 and have had nothing but spectacular performance.

DISCLAIMER: I do not pay for them - I get them free.

OPINION: IF I didn't, I'd buy them.

Have you checked www.helmetharbor.com? They have some awesome product demo videos! I know they have one on the Bell Star, and the X-11 and they had nothing but good things to say about both helmets. Check it out.
