CITY OF NEWBURGH — If you hear a scuffle, call the police, the woman told her friend on the phone. The friend did exactly that minutes later.

This was shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, and the woman had just unlocked her apartment door. The lights were on. The door to the balcony was chained. It seemed weird.

Earlier, the 22-year-old had filed a complaint against a man named David Joe Limones with Newburgh police.

The friend stayed on the line as the woman searched her apartment.

Finding nothing, the woman sat on her couch. She felt a bump in the cushions and then she felt the bump move.

Police said that was Limones, a 27-year-old who lived around the corner on Lake Drive.

According to the police report, Limones used a box cutter to carve a space for himself in the couch, then climbed inside to wait. When the woman jumped up and ran, he flipped over the couch and came after her.

Police heard the woman screaming in the background of a neighbor's call to report an unwanted male.

When officers arrived, they spotted Limones and the woman on the balcony arguing. Police arrested Limones on a variety of charges, including burglary, a felony. He went to Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail or $100,000 bond.

reminds me of that naked gun scene where the agency director is in camoflauge and makes himself look like a chair.

I think those are ACUs, not MARPATs... The Marine uniforms have brown and tan and other colors. The ACU is pretty much just varying shades of green. Perfect for couches!

Bear in mind that both MARPATS and ACUs come in a wide variety of colours, although I don't doubt those pictured are ACUs, as you say.
These digis are all after my time, and I call 'em all, regardless of branch, MARPATs.

Used to be that the branch differences were a matter of title, as opposed to pattern: "camos" were army , "cammies" were corps.

Hell- now the Air force has a French Indochinese-based pattern, seems all the branches are scrambling for BDU identity.

I know it is a little off topic, but I saw a few military people downtown today in the new "digital camo" (I think that is what it is called)

I got to say it looked very snazzy.

Not snazzy enough to join up though...

The digicams have been around (in R&D form, at least) for over a decade.
Now, the French-Indochinese patterned digital Tiger stripes of the AF are pretty fresh to the scene.
Never before has the US military *issued* dissimilar camos by branch...
Sort of a throwback to the late '40s, when the US tried putting PTO spot-pattern (Duck-hunter, before it's Viet~nam use earned it the monniker "Beo gam") on ETO troops, and friendly-fire incidents spiked, due to leg units seeing the ABN guys' outfits as likely Kraut camo.

The Town of Newburgh is like Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive compared to the City of Newburgh.

Cities don't tend to highlight their homicide stats on their websites, Nevrenuf...

Newburgh's highly unique 1960s history kinda sets it apart for homicide hijinks.

A new HA charter was slated to open, there, a few years back...shame it didn't, as it would have helped with the street crime problem.
