I just realized after reading the Cycle World I just got in the mail that the Josh whom my buddy is roomates with is THE Josh that rides for Erion Honda out of Cali.
Josh lives in Gulfport, MS.
I always heard around work that this guy was an awesome rider but always thought they were just talking about some guy that was big into track days, not a three time AMA Superbike Champ.
There aren't any tracks close by so I never put the two together.

come on down south of baton rouge for a close track day at No Problem Raceway. tigertrackdays.com bringing your buddy and his roommate will grant you royalty status i am sure. we have some participants from Mississippi and have a great time. not many Buells, though.
ride safe,
tim

I have wanted to get over to NP for awhile. I am a big drag race fan and I'm working on a pro-touring 70 Plymouth 'Cuda that is a serious corner carver.
I have been down to Belle Chase Naval Air Station but the course looked like a 50 year old crack whorze face, BuStEd!!!

I'm right off I-10 but NP is still about 2 hours away. I would love to get involved in doing track days when I get back to the real world, (deployed), and would love to see Josh Hayes ride in person.

Oh yeah, I will be dropping my order on a new 09 'bolt in July probably and get back a month later; so will I have to do anything to do the track day at NP? Just show up with proper gear?

I think he actually lives in a upstairs apartment of the garage or has lived with him sometime in the past as a roomate.
If you know him, do you know Petie Welsh? I'm in the same Battalion as Pete.

I looked at your profile hoping you were close too, always cool to have Buellers on the Gulf Coast, but I know Pete has traveled with him to at least Daytona.

No, I don't know Josh, but he is one of my favorite racers. Just remembered that I read in Road RacerX that he got married last year. The AMA will be racing in Atlanta August 29-31. When you get back and pick up your Firebolt, you need to go check out the Superbike weekend there.

Me an Pete got to the Battalion about the same time almost 5 years ago. Every ten months we leave for six and I know that he's lived with him in that period of time. I hang out with a different crowd so don't really know them but now I have a reason to be cordial, free pit passes???? lol
That ATL trip would be cool. Could see a Braves game too. It would be one of the first weekends back though.

john, prep is minimum on the Buell. tape up the lights, remove mirrors, tape up or remove signals and taillight. i recommend bringing the bike in a truck bed or trailer just in case, but a few ride to the track and then ride home. rules are on tigertrackdays.com come home safe and thanks for your service to the country. the ATL superbike race weekend is a lot of fun but this year i am going to the Moto GP in Indianapolis instead. sep12-15th?
take care,
tim

John,
Let me know if you ever want to get together for a ride. I'm right down the road in Mobile.

That track is about the same distance from me as Barber, but it looks like they have more track days for less money.
Damn, I should have never traded my truck.

I once upon a time had the perfect truck..... It was a 94 Chevy Z71 I got for $1000. My wife made me trade it in for a family car. I got $2500 for it but it was soo much more practical.

Tell you what, Curtis, you buy the truck, I'll buy a small MC trailer and you swing by and pick me up and I'll slit the gas with you! LOL
Hey, I'm right off 10, it'd be on your way!
