I'm a bit of a boat nut myself, being a former commercial fisherman. I had an old Glastron that I bought to fix up and sell. Nice boats. Is that an old Merc 6 cylinder you're running? Boat looks like you take good care of it. Nice windshield.

Yes, that is a "tower of power" 1150 (115 hp) that is original to the boat. I've re-ringed it and replaced some bearings, that is about it.
I painted it as you see it about 16 years ago, so it is a little rougher than it appears but still looks great from 10 ft.
There is a great forum for Classic Glastrons
http://www.classicglastron.com/
That I spent a lot of time on before getting back into bikes.
I fell in love with these boats when I was 12 or 13 and "Live and Let Die" hit the theaters.....

Nice lookin boat. When I first moved to the lake I went to the boat show looking to buy a Glastron Carlson, but as I rounded a corner I saw a wild looking boat, A Hydrostream HST,(the early model of the late 1980s, not the ugly ones that were made after the company was sold) which is what I ended up with. 89 mph on GPS

Ive always wanted a Cracker Box or Jersey Speed Skiff, but living in Wisconsin, you pretty much have to drive to the East coast for a Skiff or the west coast for a Box.

Scott,

Thanks for the link. I have an '88 CX19 Conroy that looks very similar to the '86 they have in the pictures. So that is what it looked like new? I've had it for about five years and it was stored outside for many years. That is always hard on them.

Merc 165 IO runs great. I burned up the voltage regulator last time I had it running. Do you suppose it would work OK with an up dated alternator system? The original one is about $500. I've got late model alternators and wiring in stock.

I've been on a Hydrostream with a lot of HP and it was very, very fast (the owner eventually flipped it and it sank). Very good Hulls....
Glastrons are more of a sporty runabout but were considered fast in the 60's and early 70's (about 50 mph with a 19p prop and mid to upper fifties with a 21p from mine).

I do not see why not. There is a forum over there why not sign up and ask the experts?

I've wanted a Glastron since seeing Live and Let Die.

Those and Chriscraft have to be some of the most beautiful boats ever made.

1980 Howard flattie. Big block is were it's at..............if you want to spend $50/an hour for fuel. 50% overdrive gears=16 mph at idle. In and out box...no reverse. Not for everybody or the timid. http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4411/sony22592g t1.jpg http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/9265/sony22562b o8.jpg http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/963/sony2257mx7 .jpg You'll have to click on the link to see the picture. Not sure why they won't post "live".........seem to be under the size limit, but won't "go"..........

Sure looks sweet though.

Oh, you seen the vintage "Budman" sticker on the bow. Only one person has gone for a second ride in it, but he was kinda slow and probably didn't know no better. This silly thing is dangerous as hell, but the insurance is only $100.00 a year .....and that's not spoofing the insurance man about what it had for motor. Actually, there is a "cape" with the boat. It's a life vest suit with a parachute that deploys with the ripcord attached to the motor and the kill strap. The chute has straps in it that pull your legs up under you so you don't hit the water "spread eagle" and tear shit up. I'm from the club "Real boats have the steering wheel on the left side"..........

Nice Glastron. I had a GT150 for 10 years. Great little boat. Decided to get something I could take out in bay.

Picked up this 1978 21' Sleek Craft. Has 235 Evinrude that I rebuilt 2yrs ago. Twin 21 Gallon tanks running down each side, that gives me the range I needed. And with a prop change it doubles as my ski boat.

Zip-T,

I used to see those things on the chain of lakes in central Florida. That is one wicked ride. They sound like a dragster and fly on the water. I had a bass boat and thought my gunwales were low, those guys were flying by me and their knees were above the deck!

I don't know as I would ride with you more than once either. Sure seems like it would be fun once though!

nice boats guys - keep 'em coming!
I always wanted something with more HP, but now with the gas prices I'm glad I stayed with my little boat. We can play all day on 12 to 18 gallons of gas. Usually we just go out for a ride and a little kneeboarding, ends up costing me about $12 : ]

"Disturbing" started life as a ski boat with a 429 Ford. The dude I bought from put a blown alcohol BBC in it and raced it. His wife told him to sell it, but there aren't many "prop heads" in Iowa. He swapped motors with something a little more easy to get along with when I came into the picture. Spent the whole summer in the garage rebuilding it front to rear plus new axles for the trailer...... BB (Before Buell). High maintenance is an understatement. Wish I could post a video that a buddy shot when he went for a ride. Nail the throttle and the boat does a little sideways torque twist and........ it's gone. The thing is LOUD(open headers, wet stacks) and brings in people to the lake to "see". I can only run it before 9:00 A.M. on Sundays..thus the name, Disturbing. After that, there is too much traffic with jet skis and pleasure crafts. Too easy to run down somebody.

I was so scared of Zip's boat when I was there that I wouldn't even sit in it while it was in dry-dock and it wasn't running.
