I am Jim's friend. I ended up here trying to contact all that knew him. You can keep updated on his condition at the following forum. These were the guys he rode with that last weekend and whom I am primarily keeping up to date with. http://www.cycleforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=180

Please at least pray for him and his family. If you could make any donations for medical costs they would be greatly appreciated. I have set up a few outlets for that. You can read on the forum. Thank you all and God bless.

He is actually doing worse. he is running a high sustained fever. Indicating infection. He is still on life support and can move just his left arm minimally. Thank you for your support through this guys. If anyone would like to help him by donation. You can do so at http://nyjetsmann.com There is a paypal link there. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

I suggest strongly that his wife immediately hire an advocate doctor, an expert in neurology, as an advisor. He could very well make good use of a medical advocate who does not work for the hospital on his side in this case. Unfortunately one just cannot trust the hospital and their insurance cohorts to do everything needed to save his life.

I lost my father-in-law to apathetic medicine. I wish I had known then what I know now.

I would like to second Blake’s advice.

My mother went in for hip replacement surgery.
Not only was the operation unsuccessful but in recovery they accidentally gave her too much morphine.
Her heart stopped, and although they revived her the lack of oxygen, to her brain, caused brain damage.

I pray for only the best in his situation;
but trusting that the hospital and that it’s staff are focused solely on my mom’s best interest and not the bottom line has taken the woman who was my mother away from our family.

Again I don’t know him but I wish him the best

Thank you Whatever, I just realized that I posted no info on how to donate if you so choose. I have setup a web site at http://nyjetsmann.com for Paypal. If you are local to Virginia Beach, you could stop by a Navy Federal Credit Union and make a deposit to the James E Russell Fund. I thank all of you who have helped with all my heart. It means alot to his family. His wife has been overwhelmed with the thoughts,prayers, and donations from the Biker community. Many of whom have never met Jim personnly . Its refreshing to see that there is still good people out there. God Bless you all.
