for the first tine in 35 yrs I decided to NOT use my chest protector, long story short I hit a rock I didn't see, did a tank slapper and the end result is a broken collar bone.

guess I had better get used to typeing with 1 finger for a while,I'm out for this season!

ouch!
most important thing is that your alive.
A friend got clotheslined by a tree branch. He ducked but the branch caught the visor on his helmet. Snapped his neck. He's in a better place, but his friends miss him being here.

Hopefully you didn't go out alone. I go alone a lot and typically have 3-4 get offs.

One time my rear washed out in some mud and I slid into a tree. Whacked my shin bone right above the boot line. I thought I broke my fibia and tibia in half. Luckily no...however, I was on my old XL600R which was kick start. I would have left it and crawled out if need be. The trck is the trail system on that segment is 30 miles long and the sun was going down quickly. Eventually I got it started and putted on out in a safe manner. I got some cheap shin/knee guards as a gift soon after. but it took about 6 weeks before I climbed back on. I had blood pooled up under my skin that took that long to disappear.

Always worrisome that I might be injured beyond mobility. 80 miles total of trails and zero cell phone signal, not that I'd be able to tell anyone where I was. I usually only see 1 or 2 people when I go out too. Could be weeks before I'm found.

Needing a riding bud but everyone I meet seems to be a track junkie. Healing is getting so much harder for me as time goes on.

Be safe.

I was with a buddy and rode it off the mountain, now that hurt! I had all my gear on butt the piece that may have prevented the fracture.

Heal quickly Don.

The last time I forgot my chest protector I got roosted by a buddy and got smacked in the sternum with an unbelievably large rock.
