well i hit mine on monday. i finally got my knee down, and scraped my pegs and shift lever. it is pretty exciting to figure out what you are doing wrong and fix it. i can carry so much more speed thru the corners now. i had a serious case of perma grin....

here are my pucks after 3 trips thru the dragon.

and after that i needed a can of this!

cause i was sweating like a hooker on dollar day...........

Better to drag knees than scape parts. Knees move without upsetting the bike. Good job. Watch the cops though!

Oh, so that is what I missed by not riding down Sunday evening?

Now that you've done it on a Lightning, are you ready to move up to a Uly and do it like a man?

Glad you are finding new and exciting ways to enjoy that purdy bike.

Right on man! Next time your up north here hopefully I'll make it in time to ride with you!

NOW PLEASE tell us what you were doing wrong! I have this same personal goal... that I'm REALLY hoping to reach in a few weeks at Mid-Ohio, and I'm looking for all the "this is what I was doing wrong, and how I fixed it" stories I can get, so hopefully I can troubleshoot my way to success!

Keep your eyes peeled for Killboy knee-down pics! We want to see!

Mike. what i learned is that i wasn't hanging off of the bike far enough, i thought i was. but what it felt like i was doing and what i actually was doing are two different things. when i was doing it right the end of the pegs were almost in the ball of my feet, and my butt was almost all the way off of my seat. i was holding on to the seat with the under side of my knee. if that makes any sense. it also helped that i was riding with a good friend that is a better rider than i. he was very helpful in giving me pointers.

"Keep your eyes peeled for Killboy knee-down pics"
he should have some really good ones of us. we had our knees down all the way thru the corner he was set up in. we also have video. i will have some up on youtube some time here soon. i have to edit it down a little they are pretty big files.

Mark, i am definitely not that much of a man.......lol

It is also important to set up for the corner (move your body) before you commit to the corner. moving while in the
corner will upset the chassis. If you aren't off the seat enough after you are in the corner DO NOT try to re-adjust your
body further off. Very small adjustments are ok, but be careful!

Remember that even if your wheels are on the proper side of the line your head and body may not be.

Riding on the road with on-coming traffic is much different than the track where there are NO outside distractions.

I used to be one of those guys that treated certain roads like my own private race track, and have seen how the people
who live in those areas react.

When oil and antifreeze spills start appearing at the apexes of blind corners during the night, and the local police started
cracking down due to complaints my little slice of heaven turned into hell.

I now advocate riding "the pace" http://www.ridehsta.com/html/safety.htm and save the really hard riding
for the track.

I can't hang off the bike anymore myself, due to an accident during a morning commute, but even if I could, I'd
keep it to a minimum. The "aggressive" riding position can get you unwanted attention from the 5-0 even if you
aren't going that fast. be aware.

Right on Scooter!! Glad to see it. I have set some goals for myself and low and behold they are done. One was to learn my X enough to be comfortable at speed. (like we did in WV) 2nd was to get the tire all the way over. Which I've done a few times. Its hard to do out here as the roads are strewn with gravel half the time. Could never be as clean as what we saw down there. I have gotten more comfy because foot is as healed as its gonna get and doesnt hurt near as bad. Rode for 3 hours straight the other day. Nuff about me, congrads to you. Happy for you.
