Inventions

The Fottle and the Farton.

A man went to the Patent Office trying to register some of his inventions.
He went to the main desk to sign in and the lady at the desk had a form that had to be filled out.
She wrote down his personal info and then asked him what he had invented.

He said, "A folding bottle."

She said, "Okay. What do you call it?"

"A Fottle."

"What else do you have?"

"A folding carton."

"What do you call that?"

"A Farton."

She sniggered and said, "Those are silly names for products and one of them sounds kind of crude."

He was so upset by her comment that he grabbed the form and left the office without even telling her about his folding bucket!

We used to send new helpers to the parts store to get spots for the spot welder. The parts guys would always oblige by giving them the center punch outs from boxes of washers.

Oil rig rookie errands...

Go see the Toolpusher and get the key to the V-Door. (The V-Door is not an actual door; it is the two story tall near vertical steel ramp used to load or unload pipe from the drill floor. The Toolpusher is the boss of the entire rig crew.)

Go check the level of the water table; take a bucket of water with you in case it is low. (The water table is what the top structure of the derrick that supports/anchors the sheaves is called. The only access is to climb up a 130' ladder from the rig floor to the top of the derrick.)
