Jerry-

I've gotta get my Dyna back on the road. I've been missing that bike. Now I'm REALLY missing that bike.

Jerry-
If you pass me on that like you did the FJR, then I'm really going to feel bad.
Maybe now my wife will let me ride with you.

Excellent choice, Mr. Bueller!

I've got a little over 70,000 miles on my '96, it was my first Harley, bought it used in '99 with about 30,000 on it, DPO had upgraded to SE heads, cam, Mik 42 and a Thunderheader (which I trashed in favor of stock headpipes w/Supertrapp slip-ons).

I can safely say it's been the best motorcycle I've ever owned in terms of reliability. Total (non-crash-related) repairs to date: one clutch cable and one stack of clutch plates. Still on the original belt.

All your statements regarding the performance issues ring true with me: no, it's not the quickest, nor the fastest, but it sure is nice to putt along and enjoy the scenery. 600 mile days don't hurt too bad (I've got a Corbin on mine) and the style is timeless.

Enjoy the ride, old-timer!

I must say that of all the bikes I've owned and sold, the one I'd most like back is my FLHTC.

We had many happy miles and there is something to be said for "just cruising", listening to tunes and taking it easy.I rode mine from to Colorado to meet a group from Sacramento and we wandered for a week to the HD 85th Anniversary gig....the big twins just never seem to get old.

Good choice Ferris!

quote:

pop the seal on a new CD, whatever your favorite music may be, and drop it into your Bose.

The first time I read that sentence I had two odd thoughts . . .

Ferris likes Seal?

Road Kings have CD players?

Apparently, I am in need of more coffee this AM. In any case, congrats on the new ride. Twinkie-powered FLHRs are still among my favorite of the HD line. I dig the Glacier White too, it's much "cleaner" looking than the previous HD white.

Ferris, I want your job. Want to trade?

be careful what you wish for... : )

i work a TON of hours (last Saturday was 4 a.m. to 10 p.m., as but one example), and that isn't likely to change anytime soon. i'm not retired, either, and that for SURE ain't gonna change anytime soon.

what i AM is addicted to motorcycles, ALL of them, and this one, as i explained above, had my name on it, and i couldn't be happier.

thanks all for the positive feedback. it seems that the timeless appeal of a classic Harley-Davidson, altho difficult to put into words, is very real and tangible nonetheless, and it appears i'm not the only one so enamored.

Denise said it best:

"Hi, My Name Is Ferris and I Have a Problem" - guess we all should be there.

FB&D...and BOB : )

2000 RK 95", cam ,powercommander, Thunderheader ~55000 miles

Great bike. Perfect for 2 up cruising (for me). No need to hot rod across the 7 mile bridge now is there!

Congratulations, Ferris.

Beautiful pictures and GORgeous motorcycle.

I've never even ridden an H-D big twin, but I've eye-balled Road Kings more than once over the last couple of years. Definitely a timeless touring classic.

Enjoy!

Great photo. You've got a lot of chrome on that beauty already. It does improve both mileage and performance.

You know, the more I race, the less I ride on the street. I understand why the few pros that do ride on the street ride cruisers.

Me, need something a little different, though. Something a little more wild. I haven't decided what, yet, and I'll keep riding my 954 until it finds me. ;)

can't wait to ride with you again, FMJ. imagine the cackling i'm gonna do after i smoke you on this ol' boat. ;)

Great photo.
thanks, Paul. it looks a LOT better after Pdxs3t fixed it for me. : )

You've got a lot of chrome on that beauty already.
the chrome package on this bike is all straight from the factory, right on down to the front rotors (which CAN'T help the 60-0 times...)

the good news is that all the stuff i'd normally already be scheming about stripping, filing, sanding and polishing is already shiny. not to worry, tho, i HAVE found a few things that still need the Ferris touch. : )

It does improve both mileage and performance.
good, i'm gonna need all the help i can get to lay some King-sized whoop-ass on that flatulent little Fireman Jim fella!

In the alphabet soup of FL*** that identifies the big boys, what model is BOB?

I eased back into bikes with an M2 last year after a 15 year break and have enjoyed it. But I am noticing, when I spend two hours or so on it, that anything with a windshield and footboards seems to be blowing in my ear.

I'm thinking I need a bike like that too.
