Is there a rev limiter on my 99 Cyclone? When I get it on in 1st gear , it keeps cutting out at high rpm. I thought it was a gas issue but before I start poking around I thought I'd ask here first. THANKS BTW: my bike is running really strong. There isn't much out there that will beat me stoplight to stoplight. |

Yes. Built in rev limiter in the ECM. If you're tripping it regularly you're overdoing it. Do you have the tach kit installed? Sounds like you need one. This is not an IL4 and you can't ride it like one. |

"There isn't much out there that will beat me stoplight to stoplight." I've yet to meet someone that can beat my X1 to the next light. |

OK... well, I was just getting ready to shift when it cut out. I was disrespecting a sportster. No, I have not yet installed the tach. I don't look at the tach anyway when I'm getting it on. I don't take my eyes off of the road. I only use a tach to know when I'm in 5th gear so I don't keep trying to up-shift. I don't know if I'm going to bother with the tach or not. I also don't know how many miles are on the speedo and I don't know if I can easily install my speed in the cluster. sorry for the late response i'm not getting email notifications. gotta see what's wrong.

"I've yet to meet someone that can beat my X1 to the next light." ---------- my 99 Cyclone is quicker than my 2002 X1. If you're in S.W Florida we can race. }} |

That definitely sounds like fun. Regrettably, I'm in The Netherlands so I will have to take the proverbial rain check . My X1 has the Hammer Performance 1250cc kit so it's a bit more potent than stock. |

why not install a gear indicator if it's only for the gear indication? |

6200 with the OE ignition module 6800 with the Screamin' (B)Eagle (or Pro-Series) ignition module ------------------------------------------------ That's interesting.... I'll stick with the stock ignition module. 6,200 is a lot for a Harley V-twin. |

My X1 has the Hammer Performance 1250cc kit so it's a bit more potent than stock. ------------------------- I have an xtra Cyclone engine that needs some work. If I ever get around to taking it apart, I want to put a HUGE bore kit in it. I don't know what's out there though. I heard of a kit that jumps the displacement to 1450cc. That's what I want... |

Hehe, yeah that should be good for some serious fireworks. I figure the crank or bearings or both would need some reinforcing when you start pushing those kinds of numbers though lol. |
