Picked up a race can, has two screws in the top, one in the dimple. I thought it may be to release water but idk. Any ideas why someone did this?

Probably a long screw that goes into the perforated tube. My guess is it has no packing left and the tube was rattling. The screw is just keeping tension on the tube to keep it from rattling.

Use J-B WELD or high temp red silicone it doesn't show anyway.I use stainless wool for packing too.

When my Can was new they used red silicone to seal ends with the rivets. & it came apart hard after drilling rivets out because 0f red silicone had to heat up ends to brake lose from silicne to repack.

Until you find someone who can weld 'er up, just put some hi-temp RTV on the holes and pop in an "extra" pair of rivets. Race cans are loud enough, not like you'll notice the slight "pfft-pfft" from them!

I致e got stainless steel wool. Always used fmf fiberglass. It値l be my first try with wool. I知 not in a hurry, it was a good deal for $150 shipped i thought. I値l keep it as a hot spare or keep my eyes out for an S1W race header to put it on my other S1W.

It came off of a later M2, the header was wrong for me so I didn稚 buy it. Probably could have bought it, welded in a bung and capped it off, and flipped it to double my money for the legwork.
