ok comparison:

S1 vs SW1 both with stock headers and vance and hines?

I know the SW1 has 2.5" headers

has any one noticed a difference

Main sound difference in general comes from cam profiles. "hotter" cams with earlier/larger openings, will produce a throatier exhaust note.

Both s1 and S1W use the same cams. I noticed my S1 with the smaller header sounded raspier compared to my S3 with the larger header sounder deeper using similar mufflers.
