Hello all and thank you for taking the time to look at this post. I have been struggling to find a reputable shop to dyno tune my 1999 Buell X1 ever since I rebuilt/upgraded it with a 1250 kit, new cams, and CNC ported heads.

I had the first local shop in the area do the original build and also make an attempt at dyno tuning.. The old buell was considered "good" until the engine lost all compression(pistons/rings were torn up and in pieces) and needed rebuilt from what we now think to have been lean condition.

After that rebuild I took it to another shop to dyno tune it... That's when we found that it was running lean in just about all areas of the map. With that being said this shop is now struggling to figure out how to use ECMspy in order to actually edit the fuel maps.

So I'm looking for anyone that can possibly give me some kind of crash course on how to edit/update the fuel maps. I have read all of the manuals/methods for ECMspy but am still hesitant to do it on my own since it doesn't give you an exact procedure to edit the maps just tells you a lot of general info on how the bikes ECM system works and where you want your air/fuel ratio in the end. The first shop that dyno'd it screwed something up when editing the maps and bricked the ECM forcing me to buy another one. Therefore I really want to be sure I am doing it the correct way. I have ECMspy and a cable(also have a buelltooth if needed) and am fairly good with computers just need someone to show me the right way to do things.

Or if anyone knows a shop in ohio or even some hundred miles away that would be able to dyno tune the bike? I have already driven 600 miles to have it rebuilt the second time so I'm pretty open to traveling if need be. I already tried calling IDS but they are apparently booked until July and couldn't even guarantee me a time and date in July anyway if I waited til then.. or so they said..

thanks again for checking this out and any help is greatly apprectiated

You might try calling Iron Town HD (formerly Hals)in New Berlin, WI (350 miles from Toledo). They always were one of the best Buell Tuning shops. Maybe they can help or direct you to someone who can.

Thanks for the quick responses. Might have to try Iron Town HD if I can't find anything closer or work through it with the current shop.

Jim, I plan on giving you a call sometime today. Most likely at my lunch break around noon.
