There was an issue that the back of the tank was too narrow to fit the frame.
As stated above in this post! I sent them my tank, 1989 RS1200, they made a mold o fit, and after some trimming of the new tank and drilling the mounting holes, to the original bodywork, the tank fits perfectly.
This I have also stated above.
Be patient and work with them, as it takes time to build a tank by hand!
Note that all original RS/RSS1200 tanks were made in a pressure mold and are the same shape and size.

Thank you for that. At the present time there is no response from them to email enquiries. That never fills me with confidence when I am looking to spend money with a company I have never used before. Answering emails is my first yardstick of confidence in a company. However, I will be patient. I intend to place a relatively small order first off. See how that goes and potentially order a complete replacement body set off them. I'll keep the thread updated.

Hello Classicbuells:

Wow. You really put me on the spot here because your profile states Beijing, China.

Chinese companies steal technology and product design. That is just the truth and it has been the truth for some decades.
The question must be asked; Do you want parts for a motorcycle you claim to own but is not in your BadWeb profile, or do you represent a manufacturer who will buy, then make cheap knock offs of American products?

I see you have posted here since 2008, but still do not know who you are. If an address in China and an empty profile is a joke, I don't get it.

Wow. I need to check my profile. I am from the UK.

I have actually been here since about 1998 or so, pretty much from the beginning. I have no idea how to use my old profile. I lost the password and could never do a reset since the old email address no longer works. But also, to be honest with you, posting under my previous profile simply gave too much away anyhow. Back then, there weren't, so many bad guys around.

Thank you for the post anyway, you cheered me up with your comments LOL!

Prices on; http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/buell/RS120019 89-93.htm

You will note their body work for the RS/RSS1200 is for the 1991-1992. The 1989-1990 fairing is a one piece unit instead of three pieces. No matter as they should all fit. Previous poster noted all RS/RSS1200 tanks were made in the same mold.

Cost was about $780.00, as I added the epoxy, alcohol resistant, tank liner, at an additional $100.00, ($680 + $100.00 = $780.00).
Please do NOT buy a new tank without the epoxy liner!! The alcohol in modern fuel will destroy the fiberglass resin just as it has on the original tank. The only good way to install the liner is when the tank is new, clear of all oils, contaminants, and fuel.
I had unsuccessfully tried several times to line my original tank. The cleaners recommended destroy the fiberglass further, and the resulting, "furry looking", exposed glass fibers cannot be sanded down without cutting the tank open. Just no way to get inside with a sander. I was about to cut my original tank open to clean and reline it, but decided to keep it as is and just order a new tank.
