Well, my 95 S2 with T bags and reinforced mounts, has developed a high-speed wobble. Isos are good and not very old. Neck bearings are not notched and are properly torqued (and only a couple years old, actually) Bag mounts are braced to the passenger pegs, so the bags don't "flap". Tires properly inflated. Sag, preload, and rebound are all set properly (works rear shock). Forks are not dropped; standard height mounting. I'm stumped. And when it starts to wag at 80mph...aggravated. I suspect it could just be my tire choice - PR4's front and back - but love their treadwear and wet behavior so I think I'm going to "band-aid" the bike and put on a steering stabilizer. Anyone have a tip on what would work well? Been a while since I looked into these so I can't remember fork diameter (this is where I REALLY miss AL at American Sport Bike!). The other catch is, I don't really want to mangle one of my lowers so I'll have to figure out how to mount it so it's least-intrusive to the bodywork.... |

Might check the swingarm bearings for excessive wear and/or play. |

Al is still around pm him My guess is wheel or swingarm bearings could maybe be worn bearing race in the wheel |

That's good ideas there. I'll put 'er on the lift and see what I find. I do remember doing a quick "grab the top of each wheel and pull to the side" test for wheelbearings, and neither of them were noticably wobbly...but I guess since it's not exactly riding season at the moment (and I've got the Uly for a rare warm day)...I can rack 'er up and take my time. Worst case I pull the 3k mile wheels/tires off my M2 and go for a ride that way. |
