Does the Carbon Fiber break down due to UV and turn from blue to green? Here is a photo of one I came across and it doesn't look blue at all.

The carbon does change to a green if its been in the sun and not protected.

The good news is that this faded CF responds real well to a good quality clear coat. Adding a flex agent (where appropriate) and UV inhibitor help.

This mainly will help 'real' autoclaved CF. The old Buell 'greenie stuff', not so much.

It will look - likely - better than new,

So clear with a blue tint & flex agent to make this look new again.

Any idea if the pieces are still available? This one is missing the chin spoiler/fairing.

The pieces can be found. I believe St. Paul Harley (651 Lance) has a few new blue Kevlar chin fairings on eBay. They are pricey though. I have been searching with my brother and we have found everything new for his Carbon edition except the flyscreen. I was able to locate a Japanese version but haven't had any luck with an American version.

Absolutely no tint needed, just clear.

I forgot to take a pic to post last night that will show the difference.

Hopefully tonight!

OK, not quite as good as I had hoped...

Here's a couple shots of the custom CF and Red Kevlar front fender on my S2. Shortly after moving to NC it started to fade fast, looking nearly like the '99 CFE tank cover in the lead picture of this thread. A buddy of mine from work that rides does painting in his 'spare time'. Unfortunately I only asked him for clear with UV inhibitor and didn't even think about a flex agent.

S2 CF FF 1

S2 CF FF 2

The big dull spot on the 'leg' of the fender is actually clear lifted from the CF even though it looks like a bare, sun-faded area. Likely from a stone impact, this is where the flex agent would've (hopefully) helped. In the 2nd pic, you can see a small faded area pert near in the center of the pic and the edge of the flame (red Kevlar area). It's hard to extrapolate that over a larger area, but that's nearly the same as the 99 CFE X1 tank cover in the lead pic as well. I know it doesn't address the colored area, but my experience says it's super easy to bring back with just a decent quality clear clearcoat.

If only I had the skills - and patience - I'd demonstrate personally...

I have the Buell blue carbon fiber chin spoilers in stock at this time. They are the ones that came on the blue carbon fiber X1.

Not yet. The seller dropped 43% but still wants premium price for a bike that needs work. He avoids direct questions and is over 2 hours away.
